We loved our stay here! It’s nestled in the woods, so it is very private, but you’re only a 7 minute drive from Mendocino. The hosts were responsive and friendly, but gave us our space. They were very thoughtful about leaving things for our kids to do. The cabin is adorable and has almost everything you need. The WiFi was not working, but we enjoyed the atmosphere and didn’t come for the internet. The hot water runs out quickly, so if you have more than 2 people, definitely plan to stagger showers (morning and night). The hiking trail was amazing.

The satellite Wi-Fi worked flawlessly, and the hot water made tasks like dishes and showers an effortless pleasure. Petra herself is an exceptional host—gracious, friendly, and attentive to every detail. Whether you’re looking for a reliable place to work or simply need a quiet place to unwind, Petra’s Airbnb offers a dependable and peaceful stay.

We really enjoyed our stay. It’s directly on the Avenue of the Giants and it’s close to everything to do around Humboldt. The house was very peaceful and beautifully decorated. It had everything needed for cooking. The place really is beautiful with redwoods right there to admire and all. We would definitely stay here again if we come back to Humboldt… which we hope we do because it’s beautiful.

We liked the house and nearby area as it was quiet and peaceful. Unfortunately the rain made everything soggy so we couldn’t be outside as much as we wanted. Overall, Tanya was responsive and pleasant. She made our stay easy and carefree. The snacks and availability of the kitchen made cooking and finding groceries pain free. I would stay here again.

We stayed in the hut at Rob and Elsa’s Forest Reserve in Elk and it was everything the reviews say—plus a million times better. The most adorable place with gorgeous forest views. The outdoor kitchen includes a butane burner with plenty of backup cartridges, and all the basics you need—simple, not cluttered. No fridge, so bring a cooler or shop daily. The outdoor bathroom has no light at night, but that’s part of the charm. The outdoor shower and tub are a must! I was nervous because it was chilly, but the tub area somehow stays cozy and the hot water feels incredible surrounded by trees. We celebrated my husband’s 40th birthday here and he was absolutely thrilled. This place is peaceful, thoughtful, and truly special. You feel immersed in nature, relaxed, and completely off the grid—but with everything you need. Can’t recommend it enough. A magical experience and definitely a must if you’re looking to disconnect and soak up the beauty of Elk.

Great location. Right by the state park. Walkable to all restaurants and downtown nearby. Super clean place. Very private. The ocean can be seen from the living room. The garden in the backyard is inspiring and calming. Absolutely the best Airbnb I have stayed at. I wish all the airbnbs were like this one. The place looks exactly like the picture, maybe even better in reality. The place is decorated beautifully with rustic charm all throughout. We stayed with our 2 year old and he loved it as well! 5/5. Highly recommend and I would love to stay again if I come back.
