The Ranch was a great place to stay in Hakuba during winter since it is relatively close to all the ski resorts by car. Matt was a great host and helped us with our queries.

We loved our stay here in Hakuba! Jake was super responsive and picked us up from the bus station upon arrival. He was also super helpful with recommending where to hire ski gear. The location of The Joint was amazing, right in the heart of Echoland with heaps of amazing places to eat just a short walk away. The accommodation was also clean and extremely comfortable. We would definitely recommend staying here in Hakuba.

10/10. Matt runs the best ski in ski out bnb in the valley. The Ranch has a wonderful vibe with comfortable rooms and an extremely accommodating staff. Matt, Johnny, Claudia, Joel, Rhett as well as Frankie & Freddie (the best dogs in the world) made our experience. Not only were they timely and kind, they are an extremely social crew that made our experience one to remember. Spent every night in the bar kicking it with the whole staff. They are also very knowledgable about mountain recommendations and helped us unlock the best spots on each resort to chase the freshest lines with changing weather. For advanced skiers, seek out their expertise. The location is perfect. About 10 min to Tsugaike & 25 to town reduces the crowds tremendously. I've skied major resorts in U.S./Canada & spent too much on boujee amenities. Never again. The Ranch is so much better. Best ski trip I've ever taken. Stay at Matt's. Get tacos at La Mantequilla. Get a tattoo from Claud. Can't wait to go back.

It was a very clean and nice space!!!Toothbrushes, room wear, etc. are required to bring in, but everything else was provided, and we had a very comfortable stay.Ramen next to the hotel should definitely be eaten.I would definitely stay here again if I get the chance to go to Nagano again!

Alpine Lodge is a great location for a stay in Hakuba. Close to the main town area, Happo One and a short walk to the shuttle bus which will take you to any of the other ski resorts in the valley. Shayne is a terrific host and works hard to ensure everyone has a memorable stay. Shayne really is a super host who is only too happy to help organise the rental of ski gear, ski lessons or help with reservations at the local restaurants. His breakfast’s are also pretty epic. Highly recommend.

Shayne gave us the best tips and offered to drive us around town to save us from walking. Very friendly host and great location in Hakuba!

Staying with Shayne made our time in Hakuba so easy and so enjoyable. He was very accommodating and hospitable, offering to drive us around town and to the slopes. He also gave great recommendations for food and attractions in Hakuba, and the breakfast he cooked every morning was amazing. Location is great as well, very walkable. Overall 10/10.

Cannot rate Shayne and the time at Alpine lodge more highly. Humble accommodation but comfy, great value and reminiscent of friendly classic club lodges that offer the opportunity to meet and befriend others. As for Shayne, the definition of a super host… above and beyond for service. Full of useful tips and omnipresent. He even risked life and limb to climb into our window when we locked ourselves out of the room! Thanks Shayne, highly recommended!!
