We had a wonderful time at Brad and Susan's home. The pool and hot tub were beautiful. They told us places to go. Provided chairs and cooler for our beach day, picked fresh fruit off of the trees and were wonderful people. We would return in a heart beat.

Saul's place is perfectly named - "Peace of Paradise!" Sitting on the huge lanai, listening to the waves crash against the shoreline beneath, taking in the sweeping views of Hilo Bay and the open ocean with the palm trees swaying in front of you and tropical birds singing sweetly around you, how can you feel anything other than peaceful and happy? This is a truly special place - so lovely and private and cozy. So many places that try to maximize views and have this many windows feel cold or exposed. Not Saul's! He has anticipated all the comforts and conveniences. The warmth of the wooden furnishings and floors, the abundance of comfortable furniture, the covered roof over the lanai, and all the amenities you could want in kitchen and bathroom made us feel very well cared for and we promised ourselves we will return as soon as possible :)

We had a relaxing and refreshing time while staying here. The little house nestled in the jungle-like yard was perfect for us, with a fully stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, and a lovely lanai. The neighbor is a friendly gentleman who we enjoyed visiting with, and the owner is sweet and accommodating. We hope to be back again someday!

We had a great time, even though we couldn't get in the ocean, I truly enjoyed sitting outside and watching the waves hit the volcanic rock wall. it's pretty remote so you have to plan meals. the room is a studio and small, but was perfect for 2 people. The area is beautiful and quiet.

Everything needed for a comfortable stay was included! Kitchen supplies were great! Having a small cooler that we could pack and take with us on day trips was wonderful! Bathroom shower was heavenly, and the bathroom was fully stocked. Patio felt very private. We enjoyed coffee out there every morning. The bed was very comfortable and the decor was simple, pleasing, and relaxing.

We had an amazing stay at this truly unique home! Built in Bali and shipped to Hawaii, the house is a masterpiece of wood craftsmanship, blending traditional Balinese architecture with the natural beauty of its surroundings. The intricate open-air design, and thoughtfully curated details made it feel like a tropical retreat unlike any other. The atmosphere was both peaceful and inspiring, with plenty of space to relax and take in the stunning private environment. Everything was well-maintained, and the hosts were welcoming and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed for a perfect stay. If you're looking for a one-of-a-kind experience with cultural charm, this is the place to be. We would absolutely love to return!

Beautiful place, looked just like the pictures! Peaceful and quiet, all the furnishings were beautiful and comfortable. They provided nice touches throughout to make you feel at home.

This is an extremely nice place to stay on Hawaii. Ocean view from both the living area and the covered patio. Quiet walkable neighborhood. Shopping is about 20 minutes away in Pahoa. The rental area is the entire ground floor. Large kitchen with everything you need. Two full baths and bedrooms.

Dara’s place was amazing! It was very comfortable, peaceful, beautifully surrounded with awesomely colored plants and fruit trees. There were a lot of amenities. The keurig coffee machine was a definite plus as you could enjoy your morning coffee inside looking out to the backyard or at the outdoor table and chairs at the front of the house. Her place was very clean and spacious for myself and my two friends. The living room couch and chair was very comfortable as well. Everything was well organized and not cluttered at all. Very easy to maintain. I’m grateful for the indoor washer and dryer as it allowed me to leave with clean clothes versus having a luggage full of dirty clothes. The ironing board and iron really came in handy as well to press the clothes I needed to wear for the event I was attending. I would highly recommended staying at Dara’s place again! 5 stars and then some for sure!

The Whale House was even better than advertised! The location was easy to find and so beautiful! We used this as our home away from home to explore Volcanoes National Park, Punalu’u Black sand beach, Volcano winery, and multiple waterfalls. Our family also enjoyed relaxing, reading, and napping on the lanai and in the hammock swings. The garden out back was a delight to explore. The lava cliffs were also very cool!! David & Chrystal provided everything we needed and more! The kitchen was well equipped- we made several meals. The cooler and beach equipment came in handy when we visited the black sand beach. The bikes were also a nice bonus. We really never wanted to leave and would love to come back soon!

Everything exceeded our expectations! Booking, checking in and checking out was so easy and simple! The house is gorgeous, big, spacious and so cozy and prepped with all that you could need! A break from the hustle and bustle of O’ahu was exactly what we needed. My family sure enjoyed the house to the fullest! My kids used the party lights every night, the girls got to enjoy the backyard, everyone exercised in the gym, the neighborhood was perfect for a brisk family walk and the 6 of us had so much room to occupy! The big kitchen was wonderful for our lovely family meals and the kids even had lots of space to build a big, cute fort by the front door! The luxury bathroom was fantastic and being able to use the laundry room was just great! Mahalo nui loa again Tony! Stellar job with this airbnb and we hope to come back again soon!

***Excellent place*** my wife, two teenage daughters and I stayed here five nights while visiting family on the big island. Probably in my top five Airbnb‘s ever. Extremely comfortable beds, cold AC, perfect location, the lanai is amazing. Kitchen has everything you would need. Yes there is noise being on a busy street, which I was concerned about, being a light sleeper. But between a white noise maker app and earplugs, I slept amazingly well. We will be back!!🤙🏼

The home was beautiful and had plenty of space for my family of four. The AC was a huge plus. And the nature sounds were unbeatable! We walked to downtown Hilo lots and had good food nearby. Would definitely come back on our next stay in Hilo! Loved the local feel of this side of the island.

This place is amazing. Beautiful views and landscape. The house was exactly as shown/described and had everything we needed including kitchen ware and items to use at the beach. Loved that there was a black sand beach that was a 15 min drive and the closest town was 15 min away as well. Host was quick to respond for any questions. Would highly recommend staying here.

This place was totally awesome! It was so beautiful and peaceful! We slept so well! The house was well stocked with everything you would need for a comfortable stay. Denise and Brian are the best hosts, making sure we had everything we need. Itineraries were provided so we were never bored. We will definitely be back for a stay in the beautiful rainforest on the Big Island! 🏝️

This was our second stay at the Sugar Shack and we would come back again and again! The home and its surroundings are so peaceful and serene. We love everything about it and it has everything we need including small kitchen appliances, cutlery, plates, linens, pillows, towels, beach supplies, games, you really don't need to bring anything other than your suitcase! The location is definitely off the beaten path, so if you're looking to disconnect, this this the place for you (although there is Wi-Fi at the house). There is a small black sand beach super close by that is perfect and several grocery stores and restaurants just a short car ride away. Although we would love to keep this place as our secret, just book it, you won't be disappointed!

Our family enjoyed our stay. It was like sleeping in a treehouse! Ocean views, beautiful sunrises, frogs singing at night, and so many stars. We had everything we needed and the hosts were very helpful with local tips. It was a magical stay!

One of the best Airbnb experiences! When we arrived at night it was surprising to see air con turning on and water being iced in the fridge. You can tell that the host is very considerate and experienced in hosting guests. Definitely 5 stars stay!

Terrific value, great location (easy 5 minute walk to now almoust famous Sunday drum circle) and a lanai with a view of the Big Blue ocean. You can nowadays find luxe places in the area with lovely gardens and designer soaps and Ka’u coffee to greet you, but you’ll pay more if that’s what you need. I’ve done them all, but keep returning to Dawana and Andy’s for my extended stays. The area is “off the beaten path” so exploring the island means a lot of long drives. However if you simply enjoy being where you are, you’ve hit the value jackpot. I am certain to be back!

Hi.. My family thoroughly enjoyed the stay. We loved the unique location on the lava bed. Pamela has built the home with a great taste and has planted Coconut, Papaya, Mango, Pineapple trees on the property which give a different farm-like feeling and The place is very unique and fun for kids. The morning / evening breeze was awesome. We enjoyed our morning / evening teas while appreciating the sea and mountain views. Pamela is very responsive. She addressed the internet issue in few minutes. My son ran out of his lens’s liquid. Pamela went out way to get the liquid and delivered at our door step. She helped us with nearby places to explore. If we visit the Big Island again, we will be definitely staying at the same place.

Incredible one week in paradise. The house, surroundings, the walk to the black sand beach, everything was just a breathtaking. The area and tropical rainforest reminded us of Kauai island. Mango tree on premises was a great bonus. Thank you for the great week. Would recommend to everyone Mahalo
