Location, location, location!! This cabin had a beautiful view. It was very peaceful and private with easy access. It had a homey feel inside. It was clean and appliances were in working order. Ac/heater were working great! We had some snow furries and freezing rain during our stay but this was the perfect place to wait it out. 15 min from Boone! Close to shopping and great restaurants. Had a great time!

The house was amazing! Extremely clean and a well organized process.

The most incredible venue!!! Every detail is well thought out to make guests comfortable. The setting is impossible to describe in words and photos. Its so special.

The place and location are picturesque and awesome! The facilities are exactly as shown and maintained very well. Definitely worth revisiting!

Our trip was marred by the catastrophic floods from Helene, so we spent a day with no water, electricity, or cell service. This was obviously beyond Wendy’s control, but we still stayed in contact as much as possible. She provided information that helped ease my anxiety as we hunkered down in the safety and security of this very sturdy cabin. Fortunately we were able to enjoy the hot tub on our first day there before all hell literally broke loose. Due to loss of cell service during our last evening there, we couldn’t contact Wendy until we got outside of Boone on our way home. She was clearly concerned for our safety and apologized for our experience not living up to our expectations. Again, not because of anything she did or did not do. In fact, before our arrival she gave us the opportunity to cancel through Airbnb. In hindsight, we should have taken her up on that, but then we wouldn’t have these stories to tell. It was a terrible storm, but at least we had a dry place to stay.

Great place to spend thanksgiving. Peaceful and simple. You could see some of the devastation from hurricane Helene in the way in, which was very sobering, but none of that impaired the access to the house. Lovely place. Easy check in and check out.

The house was clean and matched the description. We had a little setback upon arrival when the access code we were given wouldn’t work, but host was responsive and corrected it right away. The twin bed with trundle were in basement but there was no heating option for that space and it was way too cold for anyone to sleep there. The linens were scarce (1 towel and 1 washcloth) per person for the entire stay. The home is within reasonable distance to several nearby towns that are host to many restaurants and things to do. The rest of the home was cozy and perfect. We enjoyed our stay!

Beautiful cabin, responsive host, games on site that we loved, great fireplace, kitchen very well equipped w/ spices etc. Bathroom is sparse, two rolls of tp and no shampoo/conditioner. Roads were totally impassable so we had to cut our trip short and only stayed one of the two nights we booked. We thought 4WD would be enough, but your really need chains if there's anything on the road; the neighborhood isn't plowed or salted at all. Host did recommend both 4wd and chains.

4 Adults and 4 children traveled from MI to stay at The Shady House. Traditionally we have to stayed with family. This was so much better. The Shady House was a great size to entertain our family who came to visit us. We brought the food, the kitchen had the cookware needed to prepare meals. Great time, Cranberry Festival was fun, and hosting family was a blessing. Thank You Kate

What an amazing paradise tucked away but close enough to restaurants and surround areas. Loved the cabin and all the amenities, a must stay if you’re passing through or just need a little bit of an escape you will not be disappointed.

We had a great time at this quiet area of the lake. Easy access to the water was nice and the house was comfortable for our family.

Avery was a great host. The room was better in person than the pictures online. We booked our stay during a snowstorm so Avery booked the cleaners the day before so we could arrive early and let us have a late check out. So accommodating and a wonderful stay for the price. Definitely recommend this stay!

We had the best stay at Nicole’s retreat at the Chetola resort. Such an incredible host and amazing attention to detail with recommendations for our family, we couldn’t have asked for more. The condo was very comfortable, clean and well-appointed with everything you would need. She even including ice melt for our arrival in a storm, so attentive and communicative. The views from the living room where so peaceful, while enjoying the fireplace. Location was perfect for exploring Blowing Rock/Boon or the ski mountains for the day. We will absolutely be returning.

What a great place! Also the host was very kind and great communication! Very nice place and only 10 minutes from Sugar Mountain. Wonderful amenities including pool, hot tub, sauna, library, shop, workout room etc etc. Only (potential) issue which is no fault of the owners is that this is a large 10 story condo complex. On busy days, especially around the weekend it can get very busy during check in and check out and you have to park outside of the guard shack and get shuttled back to the condo. Again, we didn’t really have much of a hang up but others did-just something to keep in mind. Fantastic place, and well equipped! Thank you again!

Loved this cozy cabin! Easy walk to the ski resort, & coffee shop. Perfect size for our family of 3 adults and our fur baby. Cabin was super close to the ski resort and centrally located to every restaurant, coffee shop & store we had on our bucket list to visit in Beech Mountain. . The view & sound of the creek was an added bonus . The gated wrap around deck / porch was my fav part of the cabin. Check in was a breeze and hosts were super detailed with directions & instructions . Hosts had super clear communication and gave fantastic local recommendations. 10 out of 10 recommend & hoping to book again for next year’s trip!

We went to explore the mountain town of sugar mtn and show our kids snow! The accommodations were wonderful, very clean! everything you need is there! The condo being on top of the mtn required a 4wd car for sure but it was clearly stated! we loved it and have already spoke about returning! i appreciate the toys for kids ! and it is helpful to know the condo gathering area has a small pantry which i was able to get frozen pizzas for dinner and eggs and bread in the morning!

We had a great stay at Brenda's place! She accurately described the place, communicated positively, and was very helpful. We would absolutely stay here again!

This place was perfect for a weekend cabin trip. Exactly what we were looking for when planning a quiet mountain weekend!
