Beautiful area

Guests love this home’s scenic location.
Woolgarden is a lovingly restored C17th Cornish hideaway with lots of unique and original features set in a tranquil valley on the edge of Bodmin Moor. The cottage has its own garden with patio where you can enjoy great views over the rolling countryside and perfect sunsets. Night skies are amazing and have designated Dark Skies status. Dogs are welcome and with beautiful beaches only 20 minutes away and National Trust Roughtor within walking distance, this is the ideal holiday destination.

The space
Woolgarden Cottage has undergone complete refurbishment in 2019 and provides comfortable and characterful accommodation. Part of a seven acre site, the cottage sits in Anciently Enclosed Land so is steeped in the history of long gone eras. With a diverse mix of open fields, wooded areas, ponds and marsh land, the site has a flourishing ecosystem, providing a thriving habitat for flowers and butterflies, birds and mammals. The immediate countryside is beautiful with fantastic walks and also amazing natural sights such as the starling murmurations over Roughtor in the winter months. With easy access to the north coast and Bude, Wadebridge and Padstow, as well as the rest of Cornwall and Devon via the A30, you are spoiled for places to visit.

A washer/dryer is available on request from the owner as is a wetsuit drying space and iron & ironing board. Dog washing facilities are also available as well as old towels for drying off after walks. Dog bed and bowl are provided. The sitting room area has a flat screen, TV with Chromecast for streaming services. WiFi is available at the property.
We offer free range eggs, pork, lamb, honey and seasonal veg all from the site so with minimal food miles. Our water is spring fed and we politely request that guests use it thoughtfully.
Bed linen and towels are provided and we ask that if you are going to the beach you make use of our supply of old towels or provide your own beach towels. Up to two well-behaved dogs are allowed. Parking is next to the property in a private car park.
Woolgarden Cottage has its own private space but you can also access the rest of the site as long as you respect that this is working small holding with livestock and our home as well.

The laundry room and dog washing facilities are in a barn next to the main house - we'll show you around when you arrive.

Guest access
Woolgarden Cottage has a private garden but you are welcome to explore the rest of the site . Please appreciate though that this is a working smallholding and our home.

While this property is attached to the main farmhouse, its parking, entrance and garden are all completely separate.

Other things to note
Please be aware that the garden has sudden drops and is not toddler friendly.

Neighborhood highlights

There are a range of lovely walks in the immediate area – in particular Bowithick is a fantastic beauty spot with meandering streams and perfect picnicking potential while St Clether Chapel is well worth the stroll. A short drive allows you to access all of Bodmin Moor and get to the North Cornwall coastal path and many beautiful beaches.
Cornwall has many beautiful gardens and historic homes and castles as well as a diverse range of tourist attractions such as the world famous Eden Project. More adventurous visitors are well catered for with surfing, coasteering, horse trekking, hiking and other adventure sports all within 15 miles of the property. Eating opportunities are brilliant.

The Rising Sun, Alturnun and The Wilsey Down, Hallworthy, are our most local pubs and both about 2.5 miles away. If you don't want to walk that distance, cycling to The Rising Sun is easy as it is pretty flat all the way and bike hiring is also straightforward with a range of options in Bude and Wadebridge. This would also mean you could explore the lovely Camel Trail.
