Room in a cabin

Your own room in a home, plus access to shared spaces.
Room 1 is a private one bedroom, one bathroom in our woodland inn on a 320-acre working Alaskan homestead. The room has a queen bed, mini fridge, and coffee maker with coffee. Guests share the living room and dining room, and two friendly dogs live on site. One-night stays only. The inn is simple and comfortable, offering a clean, cozy space to rest, relax, and recharge before your next adventure.

The space
Room 1 is part of our inn, located on our 320-acre Alaskan homestead first built in the 1970s by four generations using timber milled on site. After sitting empty for over a decade, our family is restoring the property, so some areas are worn, rustic, or unfinished. This is an active project, not a polished resort, and staying here lets you be part of that process.

The inn is in a remote area surrounded by forests, fields, and wide open skies. Wrangell–St. Elias National Park is a short drive away, offering hiking, fishing, and glacier adventures. Scenic drives along the Richardson Highway pass historic sites, rivers, and mountains. The nearest towns are 30 minutes to Chitina, 60 minutes to Glennallen, 105 minutes to Valdez, and 150 minutes to Kennicott. A small diner and grocery store are nearby, the rest is pure Alaskan wilderness.

This is an active working property, which means animals freely roam, including chickens and our friendly dogs. Guests may encounter them on the property - these curious residents are part of the experience. For a true taste of Alaskan life, this is a wonderful, immersive stay, but if you are uncomfortable around farm animals or wildlife, this may not be the right fit.

The inn covers basic needs, providing hot water, electricity, WiFi, and basic cooking essentials. Guests looking for a more private stay or a fuller kitchen setup for cooking can check out our nearby cabins. If you want a genuine Alaskan experience, remote, unplugged, and full of history, this is the place to be.

Guest access
Guests staying in Room 1 at the Inn have access to their private room within the lodge. The Inn is part of our active homestead, where farming, animals, and restoration work are ongoing. While you’re welcome to enjoy the peaceful grounds, please respect the working nature of the property and shared spaces. Please do not enter other rooms or buildings without permission.

Self check in is provided for your convenience. We appreciate your independence and ask that you help keep a calm, relaxing environment for all guests. We also provide an Airbnb guide to the area, filled with local tips, scenic spots, and activities, perfect for planning your adventures and making the most of your stay.

During your stay
If you need anything to make your stay more comfortable - extra pillows, blankets, or other essentials - please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m always happy to help with important needs to make your visit as pleasant as possible. To ensure I can provide the best support to all guests, I kindly ask that you avoid casual drop-ins or questions that can easily be answered online. Your understanding helps me focus on everyone’s experience equally.

Please also note that the managers live on site in this inn along with their two friendly dogs. We want you to feel welcome, but we ask that you respect their home and privacy during your stay. Thank you so much for your kindness and cooperation.

Other things to note
This is an active homestead with farm work and heavy equipment operating from early morning into the evening. We appreciate your understanding that this activity is not subject to quiet hours. Harvest and daily operations follow the rhythm of the land, not personal schedules.

There are over 40 chickens and 3 turkeys, including two large toms who roam freely. The toms aren't aggressive; they just like to show off because they know they’re handsome. Please don’t chase, hold, pet, or physically interact with any of the animals without permission first. Feel free to take photos and videos from a respectful distance.

This helps keep both the animals and you safe.

Important: Chicks (baby chickens) may be moving around near their mothers. For your safety, and to avoid a fine or an unpleasant encounter, please do not approach or touch them.

Hey, I’m Ellyn. I’m a mix of curious, sarcastic, and a little bit of a goof. I love chickens, dungeons and dragons, conspiracy theories, laughing at the weird side of life, and meeting people who don’t take themselves too seriously. I’m pretty easygoing, but I’ve got just enough stubbornness to make life interesting. I believe in good vibes, kind honesty, real conversations, and finding joy in the little things (preferably with coffee in hand).
