Beautiful area

Guests love this home’s scenic location.
Situated on the historic Weatherhead Hollow farmstead, this thoughtfully restored 1792 farmhouse was featured in AtHome New England Magazine for its elegant, playful interiors. Designed for slow mornings, long soaking baths, and unhurried nights, the house feels like a true getaway – whether you arrive as a couple or gather with close friends. With 3 bedrooms, 3 baths, mountain views, a fenced yard, and an outdoor fire pit, it’s a peaceful country retreat with easy year-round access.

The space
Weatherhead Hollow is a historic Vermont farmstead surrounded by rolling fields, ancient apple trees, and mountain views of the hollow – offering a sense of privacy and countryside calm while remaining directly accessible from a lightly traveled paved road. The Farmhouse is a two-story historic home with a wrap-around porch that was fully renovated to include modern comforts while preserving the character of the original 1792 structure.

Inside, the house unfolds into several inviting sitting rooms, allowing guests to spread out or tuck in. The Farmhouse features 3 spacious bedrooms (two with cathedral ceilings), 3 full bathrooms including two clawfoot soaking tubs, a large farmhouse kitchen, exposed beams, hardwood floors, bespoke furnishings, and colorful wallpaper and art throughout. It’s equally well-suited to a romantic escape for two or a relaxed gathering with family or friends.

The Farmhouse comfortably hosts up to 6 guests across three private bedrooms. We accommodate up to 8 guests total with the addition of a fold-out full-size sofa bed, ideal for children or close friends who don’t mind sharing space.

Downstairs in the Farmhouse, you will enter into the mudroom where you can hang coats, store shoes (we try to be a shoe-free house!), and pass through to the large fully fenced in backyard with an outdoor table for dining alfresco, a big fire pit, and charcoal grill. The backyard is surrounded by rolling fields and has views of the hollow's mountains. Next is the kitchen with a gas stove, dishwasher, refrigerator, breakfast nook + neighboring lounge area with a Vizio V-Series 50" 4K Smart TV. Note that wifi is fast within the house or on the front porch, and Verizon cell service is sporadic ranging from 1-2 bars. Also downstairs is a dining room, sun room, living room, and bathroom with clawfoot tub.

Upstairs, you’ll find two bedrooms with cathedral ceilings and two full bathrooms. We provide NY Times’ favorite fancy bed and bath linens. Please review our amenities section for the full list of amenities.

The Master Bedroom Suite features a King Size Bed with a luxury firm Saatva mattress + Anthropology furniture – off of the master bedroom you'll find a large walk-through closet with a high efficiency washer and dryer + ensuite Master Bathroom with a clawfoot tub perfect for two people + separate walk-in shower. The walk-through closet is also the laundry room where you'll find a steamer, iron, ironing board, and extra bed linens and pillows for the farmhouse.

The Upstairs Queen bedroom features a Queen sized luxury firm Saatva mattress, closet, dresser, and "witches stairs" that take you up to a sweet loft. We do not recommend sleeping in this loft (instead find a fold out couch in the third bedroom downstairs). Next to the Queen bedroom is a third full bathroom with a large soapstone sink and red tiled shower with slate walls.

The third bedroom is located in a finished portion of the basement down a staircase off of the dining room with a handrail for easy access – it is very bright and colorful. The bed is queen sized with a Wirecutter recommended Green Tea Memory Foam mattress + the sofa bed in the sitting area of this bedroom includes a comfortable fold out full sized bed. Linens for the sofa bed are located in the upstairs Master Bathroom linen closet behind a mirror. For comfort, the room also includes a HEPA air purifier to keep airflow fresh. The TV in this room is only set up to play DVDs (limited selection) and believe it or not, VHS tapes!

The Farmhouse is dog friendly with a fully fenced in backyard – we do ask that your dog is well behaved in new environments, and is up to date on all vaccinations and flea shots. When booking, please include your dog(s) in your reservation and message us about your dog(s). We limit the number of dogs in the Farmhouse to up to two dogs. Please note that there is another dog on the property and while he is socialized and friendly and will not go into your fenced in yard, if you have a dog that is not comfortable with the presence of other dogs, this is not the best place to book. Note: the backyard fence is approximately 3.5ft in height.

Also, if you are traveling from a property with a Pet Smart invisible fence, it is likely your dog's collar will work on this property – the entire acreage of the property includes a Pet Smart invisible fence. Just connect with us if you'd like to learn more about the property line boundaries and we can show you when you check-in (this is especially useful for long term stays!).

If you are traveling with children, please note that the Farmhouse is not officially set up to be “child-proofed” – you will not find corner guards on tables or plugs for outlets or gates for the staircase, although every room that opens out to the staircases have doors that can easily be closed. We've had children of all ages stay here comfortably in the past, but we do like to let parents know in advance.

We take cleaning very seriously – we still fully air out the farmhouse between rentals to ensure fresh air, and follow Airbnb's 5-step enhanced cleaning process.

The indoor fireplaces are purely decorative and therefore not to be used, but we do provide enough firewood to get you started in the outdoor fire pit under the stars.

Guest access
Guests will have private access to the entire Farmhouse, including the patio, fire pit, fenced backyard, and front yard.

The farmstead sits on four acres and also includes a restored Carriage Barn, Blacksmith Shop, and historic Bank Barn – a rare Vermont design built into the hillside. These buildings are separate accommodations and are not included with Farmhouse reservations.

The loop driveway and parking area are shared with guests who may be staying in the Carriage Barn. Carriage Barn guests have their own designated outdoor seating area on the far side of the barn and do not share the fenced backyard or front yard, which remain private to your reservation.

The surrounding fields and trace roads are open for strolling, snowshoeing, running, or biking along the winding country road.

Other things to note
The Farmhouse is designed for peaceful residential stays and is not set up for events or large gatherings. The maximum number of people permitted on the property at any time is 8, and the home may not be used for parties, events, or large gatherings. The Farmhouse is also not available for bridal party preparations, photography sessions, vendor staging, or shuttle pick-ups/drop-offs for off-site weddings.

The Farmhouse is part of the historic Weatherhead Hollow farmstead, which includes several restored outbuildings located across the grounds. These buildings are separate from Farmhouse reservations and do not share the fenced backyard or private outdoor areas.

The property is supplied by filtered country well water that is safe to drink. As is common in rural Vermont, guests may occasionally notice a mild natural mineral scent at certain times of year due to seasonal groundwater fluctuations.

Weatherhead Hollow also supports a small, invitation-based artist residency program that helps sustain Vermont’s creative economy. Throughout the Farmhouse, you’ll find original artwork and handmade pieces created by working artists – many developed through our residency program and all sourced directly from artists rather than mass-market décor – helping keep the property authentic and deeply connected to the creative community.

Neighborhood highlights

The Farmhouse is located just 10 minutes from downtown Brattleboro, Vermont, with easy access via fully paved country roads. Weatherhead Hollow Road is considered one of the most picturesque roads in the area and is ideal for scenic bike rides, long runs, or leisurely drives through the countryside.

A short stroll away, the town-owned Guilford Fairgrounds offers open green space, a winding stream, and public-use tennis, pickleball, and basketball courts. The annual Guilford Fair takes place one weekend each year over Labor Day Weekend. The charming Guilford Country Store — a local favorite — is just a five-minute drive from the property.

Throughout Guilford, you’ll find rivers, streams, and ponds popular for summer swimming, fishing, and winter skating, while nearby mountains offer excellent skiing during the colder months. As you explore the surrounding countryside, you’ll pass historic churches, one-room schoolhouses, slate cemeteries, and working maple sugar houses that reflect the area’s long-standing traditions, from maple sugaring season to classic sugar-on-snow suppers.
