Looking at the Palatinate Forest, the "Waldschlösschen" is on the edge of the university residential area. I myself use the apartment when I visit my family in Kaiserslautern and otherwise live in Hamburg. It has 1.5 rooms and is set up in such a way that you can work efficiently from home and also relax. I am happy if you can also enjoy it: sit back and relax, study or work – in this quiet, stylish and modern accommodation.

The space
The apartment is modernly decorated and offers you a lot in little space. To be able to manage it from Hamburg, it contains some technical refinements such as an electronic door lock and other smart home devices such as Hue lamps, Dyson fan and Tado radiator thermostat. Everything can be operated conventionally, but alternatively also via an Echo View with Amazon Alexa. Especially the tech-savvy or young guests will certainly use these gadgets with pleasure.

In the living/bedroom you will find a 1.60 x 2.00 m bed with Emma mattress and two pillows. The duvet is 1.55x2.20m (IKEA four-season ceiling). There is also a dining table with three chairs. The ergonomic office chair can be used as a fourth chair in the home office workspace, which consists of a height-adjustable desk, Microsoft keyboard, mouse, QHD monitor (2560x1440 pixels), HD webcam and laptop holder (HDMI, mini display port, USB-A hub with USB-C adapter and USB-C charging cable). With about 250 mbps, the Wi-Fi is optimal for video conferencing. An HP Wifi inkjet printer and scanner is hidden under the bed. The IKEA Hagalund sofa can be pulled out to a 1.40 x 2.00 m sleeping accommodation. The bedroom closet has space for suitcases and clothes. There is a bedding set to change for longer stays. You can also find a yoga mat there. A cantelset is next to the sofa.

The bright bathroom is equipped with a shower bath and hairdryer. Shower gel and shampoo are provided (but not refilled). A shower towel, hand towel and guest towel await you upon arrival. Another washable towel set to change is in the bathroom cabinet.

The simple pantry kitchen includes two hotplates and fridge. With the microwave hot air combination machine, pizzas, fries, or chicken nuggets successful. Guests have also baked cakes or Christmas cookies. A kettle, Nespresso machine, toaster, two pots and a pan, as well as a mini egg cooker await your use. My base of spices, oil, vinegar, etc. can be used socially - but please do not use it completely or buy it in the nearby supermarket.

The apartment building itself consists of over 100 parties and is student shaped (fortunately the student type lives so close to the university, not the party). In the house is a laundry room with seven Miele washing machines and five Miele dryers.

Guest access
Check-in, i.e. access to the house and the apartment, is flexible on the day of arrival between 2 p.m. and midnight. It is done digitally via a smart lock. Since 2025, an app no longer needs to be installed, which has greatly simplified access. A conventional, "analogous" keychain is waiting for you in the apartment.

In the Airbnb app, you'll get step-by-step instructions with photos to find the apartment in the apartment building. So you'll need
✔️ a smart phone
✔️ with mobile data rate in Germany
✔️ the Airbnb app.

You will automatically receive the door access code three days before check-in or, in the case of a short-term reservation, with your booking confirmation.

Unfortunately, there is no alternative access option (I myself live in Hamburg, key boxes in front of the house are unfortunately not allowed and will be dismantled).

Where you’ll be

Kaiserslautern, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany

The university campus is less than 5 minutes away, and the Fraunhofer Institute and the DFKI are a 10-15 minute walk. The bus stop "Davenportplatz" is almost outside the door. Timetables are available on the VRN (Rhein-Neckar Transport Association) website or app. The path to the university runs through the service center of the residential area with a pharmacy, kiosk, kebab snack bar, Italian restaurant, doctors and Lidl market. The city center can be reached in 15 minutes by bus or eScooter. The Fritz Walter Stadium can be reached in about 30-40 minutes. And the local recreation area of the Palatinate Forest starts almost on the opposite side of the street.

If you live in northern Germany and get the idea to jog to the TV tower: Even if it may not seem like it from the Waldschlösschen, it is located on a mountain, the Dansenberg. You will be happy about the elevator in the house the next day ;)

Hallo! Ich bin Andreas. I live in Hamburg and have a family in Kaiserslautern. I am renting out my small apartment there in the university residential area, so I am an AirBnb host myself. I like to travel and love beach, sun and sea.
