The space
★ Hill & Stairs:
We are about46 m up from sea level - which means views, sea breezes but also a hill. We walk to breakfast, for a swim, to buy groceries, lunch & dinner in Coogee. Great for those who like to stay fit. Not great for strollers, pra ms or anyone with agility challenges. When you arrive you will need to carry your bags up the stairs from the road to the gate. See photos.
★ Not a small child or stroller friendly location. Unit has also not been setup with small children in mind.
★ Free wifi
The wifi is between 40 & 50 Mbps usually. Coogee Beach area offers free 2GB public wifi.
★ Free streaming services. Guest mode ris unning for you on the TV: Netflix, Amazon Prime and SBS on demand for binge watching nordic noir.
★ There are several laptop friendly spaces - a medium size desk, a small desk, a laptop 'side' table for couch use and the dining table with power right underneath. The lamps have usb chargers built-in.
★ Washer & Dryer Combo
No separate dryer - it is a combo. Drying suitable for a small volume and can take quite a while. Racks & pegs are provided to hang laundry in the sun or in the patio area. If you get it out early in summer & spread the washing out, it dries quite quickly. Peg it each time or lose it when the wind comes up while you at the beach!
★ Cooling and Heating
It's a 100 year old building with very thick walls and backed into the hill side. It is usually cool on hot days. There is an aircon unit in main space, mainly for bushfire or hazard reduction burn days. There are overhead ceiling fans in the bedrooms to help circulate air. On many days the sea breeze is adequate. Standalone oil column heaters or ceramic fan heaters are available for winter.
★ Dogs on property (old, medium & small) - they do not have access to your area.
★ Beach towels, BBQ, Nespresso coffee, teapots and other nice to have kitchen items all available. If you need something, please ask, we live just upstairs & behind the unit and it is usually easy and convenient to respond fairly promptly.
★ Reward for reading this far! The airbnb guest service fee is usually applied on the full price amount (plus cleaning etc) before any discount. If you are planning a longer stay, please click 'contact host' with your dates and we can save you a bit by doing a special offer. We get the same payout, however you'll pay a bit less in guest service fee ;)
Guest access
The whole apartment and garden area is yours. We share the entrance gate and pathway past the unit. You have a gate and fence separating the unit from the pathway.
We usually head out to walk the dogs in the morning or to run on the beach & swim. We try to move quietly past the garden unit and leave you in peace. If you see us and want to chat and ask questions, we are happy to do so.
Deliveries etc do come through the front gate near the unit. Meter readers and service people may occasionally need access through the garden to the other side of the house . We will also liaise with you good times to mow and water the lawn.
Other things to note
★ Please no smoking of any kind in the unit or in the patio area.
★ No parties. The patio is a lovely space. Do enjoy it. Please be aware however that sound travels outside, especially in the evening. We ask that you observe our local councils noise hours (10 pm on weekdays, midnight on Friday and Saturday) and move your group inside if you are still chatting. This will also help you adhere to the NSW code of conduct for short term rental guests.
★ TV:
This is an internet based TV. No free-to-air aerial reception. Variety of streaming services available.
★ Beach Towels, umbrella, small beach tent, folding chairs are provided. Snorkeling gear is not provided, however it is available at shops near the beach
★ Cleaning during your stay is available at cost. Please contact us in advance so we can arrange mutually suitable times with our cleaners. Cleaning equipment is provided , brooms, vacuum cleaner.
★ Bed sizes:
Two Queen size beds - mattress size: 202cm by 152 cm
One low 'Ottoman' foldout bed - mattress size: 200 cm by 80cm. Please advise if you need this as it is not always in the space. Note once folded out to bed size it is lower than the Queen beds.
★ Main bedroom has two sets of drawers and a scandi clothes hanging rack, but no actual wardrobe (see photo's) . There is additional robe space near the bathroom.
★ We would greatly appreciate any EARLY and constructive feedback about maintenance issues, items that are hard to use, instructions that are not clear, suggestions for improvement. This feedback is immensely valuable to us. Thank you.
