The North Fork is about 2 miles away with parking and bathrooms. If you’re looking for a mountain adventure or leisure- West Point is located about 1 1/2 hours away from Lake Tahoe. An hour from Kirkwood Mountain Ski Resort. There are also several smaller historic towns that are both beautiful and quaint -Volcano is 20 minutes, with dining, Black Chasm Cavern to explore and Indian Grinding State Park. Jackson and Sutter Creek Gold Mining towns are 25 minutes. Murphy’s is on the way to Calaveras Big Trees State Park an hour away. And the historic Columbia State Park town is an hour 15. The Shenandoah Wine Country is a short 45 minutes through Volcano or you can go through Sutter Creek and Amador City to stop for picnic provisions for the many prestigious wineries for your enjoyment. The drive upcountry to Silver Lake, Caples Lake and Hope Valley is one of the prettiest highways with the alpine lakes and over the Carson Pass into Hope Valley.
