Guests describe a nostalgic, cozy cabin that feels like stepping back in time
Come see our tree and stay in the most central location of the Texas Hill Country River Region! Located between Concan and Leakey, you're just a short drive away from the Frio River (2 min), Garner State Park (5 min), and Lost Maples State Natural Area (30 min). You'll be on private property so you can relax in the cozy nostalgic charm of the cabin or go outside to see the historic Rio Frio Landmark Oak, enjoy the spacious yard for games and fun, or stargaze in our open skies at the fire pit!
The space
The highlight of our property is of course the TREE! But first let us walk you through the cabin. From the front door, you'll see the full kitchen and dining area to the left and the living room to the right. The doorway through the kitchen leads you into the master bedroom which holds one full size/double bed and 1 pull out twin mattress. This room also holds our designated work space where the doors can be closed and you can set up on our desk and chair. We also have one closet in this room for hanging clothes and storage. The door way through the living room leads you into one long room that holds two full size/double beds and a game area. We have puzzles, coloring books, cards, and board games for your bunch to enjoy. Both bedrooms lead you back to the laundry room and bathroom. We have a tub/shower with a vanity, table, and closet. The closet is equipped with shelves and a hanging rod. Outside we have a large front and back yard area. There are open skies for stargazing, a barbecue pit, a fire pit (off limits during Real county burn bans), and several yard games. Just south of the cabin towering over the old white Victorian house is the Rio Frio Landmark Oak. This is all within the same private property so please go and visit our beloved tree. Imagine all of the people from long ago who've gathered under this amazing giant, sit beneath is massive branches and listen to the birds above, and of course take plenty of pictures while getting this exclusive private access. We just ask that you respect our tree by only looking at it and not touching it.
Guest access
The only part of the cabin that is off limits is the locked pantry where we keep all of our supplies.
Other things to note
Again we'd like to remind our guests to please respect our rules and while visiting our tree, not to touch it, take anything from it, or climb on it. This tree is on private property and we take great pride and great care of our tree. Please just enjoy being near it and getting this exclusive access to see it up close.
River Access:
The nearest river access is only 0.8 miles/2 minute drive to the nearest water crossing on Ranch Road 1120. There is currently a small area with free parking along the road by an old cypress tree. If you are looking for a bigger area to sit or swim in the river you can go to Garner State Park (3.6 miles/5 minute drive) and pay for a day pass to give you their river access, with paddle boats, kayaks, hiking trails, etc. To float the Frio River, you can drive over to Happy Hollow Frio River Outfitters (2.4 miles/4 minute drive) where they will provide a shuttle service.
