The Fireweed Cabin is one of three tiny cabins nestled in the foothills of Hatcher Pass. Located on a 200-acre homestead along the Little Susitna River, this off-grid cabin offers a true Alaskan experience. Complete with potable water, mini fridge and propane fireplace, you'll be cozy and comfortable no matter the season. Experience the off-grid lifestyle in the Last Frontier.

The space
The Fireweed is an off-grid studio cabin. It's small but mighty, complete with limited electricity and a kitchenette for food prep.

Your cabin is outfitted with two rechargeable lanterns, as well as one overhead light. Three outlets provide access for recharging computers and phones, but we do ask that you limit your electricity use when possible.

The kitchenette features a mini fridge, french press and electric kettle, along with coffee, tea and hot cocoa. Our potable water is accessible via a rechargeable faucet. The Fireweed is off grid, so we bring your water in and are happy to provide more if you need it.

There is no bathroom inside your cabin, but the outhouse is only steps away and features a compost toilet. We recommend bringing your lantern with you for light!

As stated above, our property is situated on 200 acres and features five miles of trails that you're free to use!

Along with guests of the Fireweed and Aurora cabins, you'll share access to a fire pit, the trails and the outhouse. Embrace this unique experience and get to know your fellow travelers.

Guests have full access to the property and its trails. We do ask that you respect our privacy and only approach our cabins if you need assistance. If you'd like a tour of the garden or a visit with the geese and chickens, we're more than happy to accommodate. Most likely, the chickens and geese will be out and about in the yard.

The Fireweed comes with a parking space, directly opposite your cabin.

Other things to note
We do not have a shower available to guests, but showers are available for purchase just down the road at Turner’s Corner and the Valley Country Store on Palmer Fishhook Road. Turner’s is cheaper but more minimal, while Valley Country is more expensive but has nicer facilities. We have towels available upon request if you’d like!

While we don’t have wifi, the cabins do seem to get quality service from most cell carriers. We’ve seen LTE from Verizon, Xfinity and AT&T. With your hot spot, you should be able to stream, FaceTime with friends and more.

Neighborhood highlights

We are located just 41 miles from the Anchorage Airport, 12 miles from downtown Palmer and 14 miles from downtown Wasilla. Best of all, were just 2.8 miles from Government Peak Recreation Area, 10 miles from Hatcher Pass and just 15 minutes from Skeetawk Ski Area. So if it's adventure you're looking for, you're in luck!

If you’re looking for a fun day trip, we’re just an hour and a half from Talkeetna and 3.5 hours from Denali. Locally, we’re just 20 minutes from the Musk Ox Farm, 30 minutes from the reindeer farm and 25 minutes from the Alaska State Fair grounds.

Our property is situated on 200 private acres. We have five miles of trails right out your cabin door and beautiful views of the Susitna River throughout.

We live on the property, as do our array of animals. We've got a family of geese and chickens who will welcome you with open wings, as well as two dogs and three cats. The Fireweed and its sister cabins are in their own private area of the property, but close enough that we're available if you need us.

The Fireweed is right next door to the Spruce and Aurora cabins. Each share the fire pit and outhouse with one another.
