Other things to note
For guests travelling with dog(s), we recommend checking with your veterinarian and reviewing any local travel requirements to ensure your dog is up to date on recommended vaccinations, preventatives, and health protections appropriate for the areas you'll be visiting in Nova Scotia. A little preparation can help make your stay safe and enjoyable for both you and your furry companion.

Our cozy cottage is seasonally decorated to create a festive atmosphere for Valentine’s Day, Easter, Fall, and Christmas (after November 11 out of respect). During the summer months, when black flies and mosquitoes are common in Nova Scotia, you can relax and unwind in our cozy screened-in porch. Designed for comfort and enjoyment, the porch provides a perfect retreat year-round.

Please note that our property is located in a private, rural, natural environment with wildlife, changing weather conditions, and an ever-changing coastline shaped by the power of the ocean and Mother Nature.

If you plan to enjoy local hiking trails and outdoor adventures, we recommend bringing suitable footwear and clothing that provides protection and comfort while exploring wooded, grassy, and coastal areas.

Any visitors to the property must be disclosed and pre-approved PRIOR to their arrival.

We are Dog welcoming. Please see our Pet Policy under "House Rules".

We love road trips with our dog, and that inspired us to create a space to share with others who love to travel with their dogs. The Red Door Barn is a passion project, set on land once home to grazing sheep for local fishermen. The stone wall at the driveway is the last reminder of that era. Our design honors the hardworking fishermen of the past who worked both the land and sea. We hope you enjoy your time by the ocean!
