Welcome to The Lonnen! I live in an idyllic and secluded cottage in rural Northumberland.
I have two stylish and comfortable private rooms, each with their own en-suite shower room. The rooms are accessed via a separate entrance to my home - and your room has it’s own lock on the door, meaning you can come and go as you wish.
There is plenty of parking and a beautiful outdoor seating area with views across the National Park.

The space
The Lonnen is a traditional old stone-built Northumbrian cottage. It's located down a private track so offers peace and tranquility, beautiful views and plenty of luxurious features to ensure you enjoy your stay. There is a separate entrance, which you will have a key for - allowing you to come and go as you please. I'm always around and happy to help - but you can be as independent as you like once you arrive!
The room is light and airy and furnished with antique furniture and fabrics from a local designers. There's a private modern shower room with a toilet, sink, large shower and fluffy towels. It should include everything you need for a relaxing break. There is a pantry area in the corner of the room - there's a Nespresso machine, kettle, toaster, small fridge (with fresh milk), a selection of hot drinks, bread and cereal. I also try to leave a freshly baked cake for when you arrive - so make sure you check the 'Treats' tin!
There is a fold-out table where you can enjoy breakfast. It could also be used for work if needed. Please note that there isn't a separate dining room or living room for guests. There is a door in the corner of this room that used to connect to my home - however it is locked and your room is totally secure and private.

Guest access
You have access to your private en-suite room via a lockable door. You will have a key for it during your stay so you can come and go as you please. There is a small entrance area shared with my other room.
There is ample parking on site.
We also have a beautiful terrace and garden for guests. There are comfortable outdoor armchairs and a sofa, as well as blankets and cushions. It boasts views of the National Park. Our cattle and sheep are just over the wall - as well as lots of pheasants, rabbits, hares and birds.
There are various footpaths that leave from our front door if you fancy exploring on foot.
Other things to note
There is patchy mobile phone reception at The Lonnen - but I ensure my landline is available for any emergency calls. There is 3G reception but we don't have the option of super-fast broadband. However there is wi-fi in the room and a Smart TV.
There are no close neighbours and no street lights - which is what makes The Lonnen so idyllic. It's perfect if you want to take in the beautiful starry skies on a clear night! But please be aware that although it's just 2 minutes from the main road, and 5 minutes drive to the nearest town, it is quiet here!
