Parked in her retirement spot perched above a cascading mountain creek with big boulders on 8 1/2 private, heavily forested acres, this is nature immersion at its best.

Tube the Tuckasegee River, paddle pristine Lake Glenville and visit the small town charms of nearby Cashiers and Sylva. Plus your stay supports our nonprofit orchard supplying local food banks!

The space
Sleep: double (full) loft bed + double (full) pull-out sofa; two people only despite the two beds, and y'all should be real friendly with each other!

Kitchenette: mini-fridge, 4 burner cooktop, basic cookware and essentials like oil, vinegar and spices, dishes, Keurig & drip pot with local coffee

Comfort: heating/air conditioning, Wi-Fi, television with access to your favorite entertainment apps, NO cell phone service in this area-we use Wi-Fi for communication and that can be spotty at times

Outdoors: covered patio with dining area for two, small propane grill, chairs, string lights and your own personal trail that encircles the property along the cascading creek

Extras: fire pit with wood, guide to our favorite lake put-ins & river floats and use of our kayaks and river tubes at your own risk.

Pet-friendly: well-behaved pups welcome, be cautious of wildlife activity (bears)

Guest access
You’ll have the tiny house, patio, and the entire back portion of the property all to yourselves. Kayaks (with paddles & life jackets) and river tubes are available for guest use at no charge and at your own risk.

Parking is right next to the tiny house, and there is room for one vehicle.

The creek is reached via a trail up the mountain, and there is a sitting area with chairs.

This property cannot accommodate small children due to the ladder to the loft and the terrain of the land.

Sylva (nearby): a classic Appalachian small town with a walkable Main Street, indie shops and bookstores, coffee spots, local breweries, and laid-back eateries. It’s your easy stop for groceries, farm-to-table bites, live music, and weekend buzz.

What to do!

On the water: paddle Lake Glenville or other nearby lakes (we’ll point you to scenic put-ins)

River float: tube the Tuckasegee on mild days (seasonal)

Trails & views: waterfalls and Blue Ridge hikes within a short drive or there is plenty of private hiking to do on the property itself

Town time: browse Sylva’s boutiques, murals, local beer scene and yummy restaurants; we will send you a list of our favorites once you book; Asheville and everything it has to offer is one hour away

Other things to note:

Safety: Life jackets are required with kayaks; use tubes only at safe water levels and in daylight. You’re responsible for your own safety, and we will have you sign a waiver.

Pets: Please leash on the property due to wildlife interactions.

Sound: The creek is a constant, soothing presence (not silent).

Access: Expect mountain roads; standard cars do fine in normal conditions on the dirt driveway leading to the property. We will contact you if there are snowy or icy conditions present.

Stewardship: Please respect the property, and leave no trace.

House rules:
No parties, no smoking, registered guests only, and quiet hours are 24/7 here in this peaceful haven. Be kind to the space and to nature—leave it as you found it. Ethical foraging and collecting allowed with permission.

Greetings! I'm a mama, artist, retired wildlife biologist, conservationist, and tiny house and pollinator advocate. We bought a tiny house on wheels back in 2013 and headed to the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina to start a new life and build an orchard and food forest.
