Decorated in honor of my ancestor, 19th century Portuguese explorer Roberto Ivens, The Explorer’s Home is in a protected Lisbon building renovated in 2018, right next to the former Royal Palace and Gardens.

We are certified under the QUALITY program of the Portuguese Hoteliers and Restaurants Association.

It is a protected building which was completely renovated whilst keeping the original facade. With a living area of 75sqm, hardwood is used in the floors, window sills and even the living room ceiling.

It is a duplex on a 1st floor, living room and kitchen on the bottom floor and both rooms and the bathroom on the top floor.
Ivens Room has a deluxe hotel queen size bed (160*200), TV, Netflix and ceiling fan.
Capelo Room has deluxe hotel single beds (90*200) - which can be combined into a king size bed upon request – and a ceiling fan.
Modern bathroom with walk-in shower, toilet and bidet.
Kitchen has a high table with 4 chairs which is used for nice meals with family or friends. Equipped with Nespresso, electric kettle, microwave with grill, large fridge, laundry machine and dishwasher, besides having an orange juice maker and handheld blender.

The Portuguese Royal Family lived next door and now Madonna and two Presidents of Portugal have chosen houses nearby. Estrela is an authentic neighborhood with nice views of the river and peaceful whilst still close to the bustling downtown.
