Thatchways' Nook is the self-contained, luxurious annexe of a 17th Century thatched cottage, with its own secluded garden. Situated 2 miles from the pretty, historic town of Emsworth, it's a short walk to the seafront and the beautiful Chichester harbour, known for its unspoilt coastal landscape and a haven for local wildlife. The area is perfect for walking, boating, cycling and sightseeing. Chichester, Portsmouth, and Goodwood are nearby as well as the award winning beaches of West Witterings.

The space
Thatchways' Nook offers comfortable accommodation with a king bedroom which overlooks the Nook's secluded patio garden.

The large, stylish shower room is designed as a wet room and combed-cotton towels and dressing gowns are provided.

The spacious living area is open plan with the dining area and includes a kitchenette with coffee machine, microwave, hob, and small dishwasher - suitable for making breakfast or simple meals. Please note that there is no oven.

There are many nice pubs in the area and both Chichester and Emsworth offer a range of cafes, pubs and restaurants. Or you can retire to the comfortable sofa after dinner for a relaxing movie night in!

Outside, the patio garden has a table and chairs, perfect for enjoying a morning coffee, evening meal or drink whilst you listen to the birds in the spring and summer.

Tea, coffee, milk, porridge, bread, jam, and marmalade are provided for you to enjoy breakfast inside or out in the garden.

Guest access
Guests will have use of the whole space which is all on one level and is separate and private from the main house. (There is an interconnecting door with the main house which will remain locked throughout the duration of your stay.)

There is parking available for 1 car on the drive.

Standard check-in time is 3pm onwards and check-out time is before 11am.

I like to greet my guests but if you need flexibility on your arrival time I have a key safe.

Other things to note
If you've booked for 2 guests but require the sofa bed, please inform me upon booking.

Neighborhood highlights

Please see my Guidebook for my recommendations for pubs / restaurants and things to do in the area that you may want to book in advance.

Thatchways' Nook is situated between Emsworth and Chichester.

It takes ten minutes to walk down to the sea front and from there you can walk along to Chidham, Prinsted, Emsworth, and to Thorney Island. At high tide it’s possible to swim and there’s a small pebbly beach at Prinsted which is a half hour walk away or a 5 minute drive.

The area is fabulous for walking and cycling and close to the South Downs.

Emsworth

Emsworth is a five minute drive away and is a pretty fishing village with a selection of shops, restaurants, cafés and pubs. It’s worth a visit for a meander and an ice cream looking out over the mill ponds. The walk to Emsworth is approximately 45 minutes through fields and along the coastline, with views across the harbour and to Thorney Island. Emsworth is also a great starting point for a beautiful walk along the coastline to Langstone where there are two nice pubs for a drink – The Ship Inn and The Royal Oak.

Bosham

Bosham is a ten minute drive away and one of the prettiest villages in the harbour. It has a fabulous ice cream parlour and is delightful for a wander, a visit to the Saxon church, and to enjoy beautiful views from the seafront. From Bosham Hoe you can catch a ferry across to Itchenor.

Chichester

Chichester is a fifteen minute drive away and is a charming city. The cathedral is beautiful and well worth a visit for its architecture and history, events and concerts. The city is full of lovely shops - both high street and boutique, and is well known for its theatre – Chichester Festival Theatre. Pallant House Gallery has an excellent modern British art collection as well as an exhibition programme of modern, contemporary and international art. The Novium museum tells the story of Chichester and the surrounding district with the remains of Roman baths forming the main part of the ground floor.
