Thaddeus House was hand-built in 1976 and has been cared for with the same intention ever since. Three bedrooms, a wood-burning fireplace, a renovated kitchen, a turntable, and a rotary phone that still works.

No microwave. No air conditioning. No hurry.

Woodstock is fifteen minutes away when you want it. Most guests find they want it less than they expected.

Surrounded by nature, with hiking, swimming, and Woodstock's charm nearby, it’s a peaceful escape in every season.

The space
A two-story A-frame on a private drive in the mountains above Woodstock. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a long farmhouse table, and a freestanding wood-burning fireplace at the center of it all.

The kitchen has been thoughtfully renovated — soapstone countertop, Miele refrigerator, Bosch appliances. A turntable and record collection are in the living room.

Guests often mention a calm that settles in within the first hour. The house has always done that.

The back deck has seating for six, an L-shaped sectional, and a view into the trees. There's a lake a mile and a half down the road.

Three notes: no A/C, microwave, by design. Bring slippers in winter — the downstairs tile runs cool.

Guest access
Full access to everything: all three bedrooms, both bathrooms, the fully stocked kitchen, indoor built-in grill, fireplace, deck, yard, and seasonal lake toys. The driveway is yours.

The property is entirely private — no shared spaces, no other guests.

Other things to note
The house sits at the end of a private driveway. 4WD required November through March due to potential ice.

No AC — the windows open to mountain air.

Sonos in the kitchen/living room, and downstairs bedroom.

The upstairs loft is open to the living space below. A

Ring camera monitors the driveway for arrivals and departures only.

Smoking is not permitted inside or within 15 feet of any open door.

Weekly stays are available at a preferred rate. Short-stay pricing is firm — discount inquiries won't be entertained.

Photo shoots and special events require written permission (and possible fees) in advance.


Internet Usage and Liabilities
An illegal or abusive use the Internet access is not allowed. In particular, it is not
allowed…
• to send information and data of a commercial nature and/or for marketing
purposes to third parties without being requested to do so (spamming),
• to use peer-to-peer networks if up- or downloading of copyright-protected
intellectual property with or without the knowledge of the owner is intended;
• to spread and distribute illegal or immoral content and data;
• to use applications which could destroy or change the physical or logical
structure of Thaddeus House equipment or network.

In case of non-compliance with the above obligations or in case of any other illegal
action, the renter shall be liable for damages. The renter has in particular to
indemnify and hold harmless Thaddeus House from any third party claims on
first demand and, in case Thaddeus House settles any damages itself for
avoiding further damages to compensate Thaddeus House for all damages
incurred (including costs of legal advice and defense).
Thaddeus House is not responsible for any damages renters sustain while using
Internet access with their own Internet devices. The renters must have their own
spyware/virus protection or data security, etc.

Owner Access
The renter shall allow us to access to the property for purposes of repairs and inspection if required. We shall exercise this right of access in a reasonable manner.

Smoking
Smoking is not allowed inside the house or within 15 feet of any open door. If you are a smoker, plan to smoke outside and well away from open doors and to
provide your own ashtray. Butts thrown on the ground are not appreciated.

Deposit
We may withhold all or part of the deposit if any of the general policies are broken.
Cause for withholding deposit funds include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Missing items requiring replacement (including keys)
• Damage to the premises or contents
• Excessive cleaning required
• Lingering smell of tobacco smoke
• Charges for mailing personal items left behind
• Evidence of more persons using the property than were authorized
• Unauthorized late check-out
• Unauthorized early check-in
• Illegal use of the internet provided

Neighborhood highlights

Nestled high in the mountains. There is a great 1 1/2 mile walk to a lake. A strenuous 5 mile loop run through wooded neighborhoods. Or a quick 15 minute drive thru Woodstock and you can hike the Overlook Mountain with a finish climbing 60 ft in the Fire Tower to have the most spectacular views of the Hudson Valley.
