Sunset Chalet is a boutique hotel owner's own home: a professionally designed 4-bedroom, 3.5-bath modern mountain home in the aspens, a 5-minute drive to the Mountain Village lifts and the free gondola into Telluride. Sleeps 8. Chef's kitchen, 23-foot ceilings, cozy fireplace lounge, hot tub, fire pit, BBQ kitchen, speakeasy Tiki Bar, and a solarium for yoga or ping pong. Bathed in natural light and built for families and groups who want comfort, design, and the mountain close by.
The space
Welcome to Sunset Chalet, a professionally designed 4-bedroom, 3.5-bath modern mountain retreat tucked among aspens — 5 minutes from the Telluride Ski Resort lifts at Mountain Village and the free gondola into town. With soaring ceilings, expansive windows, and a calming palette of tile, wood, and natural textures, this home blends sophistication with the ease of a family home. Relax by the fireplace, cook in the chef's kitchen, or take in the alpine glow from the hot tub or fire pit on our deck.
Inside
The open-plan great room features soaring ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a large cozy fireplace with a deep U-shaped sectional. A chef's kitchen with high-end appliances and an oversized island anchors the space, flowing naturally into the dining area with built-in banquette seating for eight — the whole group ends up here. Just off the great room, a second lounge with a wet bar and beverage fridge is the spot for board games, a book, or a happy-hour drink. Off the hot tub deck, our speakeasy Tiki Bar seats four, with a nugget ice maker. The south-facing solarium (sunroom) under its glass roof is bright and warm all day, even in January — yoga mats, blocks, straps, and light weights are there, along with the ping pong table and a hanging chair.

Primary Suite (Upper Level): King bed with pillow top mattress, vaulted ceilings, private balcony, walk-in closet, and a spa-like en-suite bathroom with dual vanities, a double shower, and built-in shower bench.
Aspen Room: King bed with pillow top mattress, en-suite bath/shower combo, desk workspace with views of the aspens (and the mountains in winter), sheepskin cozy chair, blackout shades, closet, and access to the north-facing porch with rocking chairs and the fire pit.
Twin Room: Two twin beds with pillow top mattresses, small desk, en-suite with dual vanities and tub/shower combo.
Flex Room: Queen fold-out sofa bed, dedicated desk, electric and acoustic guitars, and a half bath in the adjacent laundry/mudroom.
The Holidays Here
The mountain (weather permitting) opens Thanksgiving Day. December brings Noel Night on Colorado Avenue, the Holiday Prelude and tree lighting in Mountain Village, the Christmas Eve torchlight parade down the ski hill, and New Year's Eve fireworks over Mountain Village — all a 5-minute drive from the house. At home: the tree is up, the fire is on, there's sledding out the door, and a hot tub for after.
Outside, there's more than the hot tub: cornhole, tetherball, a zip line through the aspens (yes, in winter — the landing is snow), and a sledding run that starts at the house, with a double sled and two saucers provided.
Arranged before you arrive
Ski rentals can be delivered to the house, catering for après or a full sit-down dinner, or a private chef for the night — we have a partner for each. Or rent slope-side and leave your skis at the Ski Valet by the gondola — no carrying gear.

Parking is available on-site. Adjacent guest house is private, they have their own driveway, entrance and sidewalk.

Getting here: Montrose (MTJ) is about 1 hour 20 minutes by car, with nonstop winter flights from Dallas–Fort Worth, Houston, Phoenix, Denver, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, and Atlanta. Telluride's own airport (TEX) is 15 minutes away with service from Denver and Phoenix.
Ski Ranches roads are paved and plowed year-round; the home sits among aspen trees with changing mountain weather — AWD/4WD vehicles recommended in winter.
