Guests describe it as peaceful, thoughtfully designed, and one of the best stays they've had
Our modern studio is on the Town Run and steps away from downtown Shepherdstown. Whether you’re here for a relaxing escape or a university visit, listen to a waterfall from our cozy, zen, spa-like space with outdoor gardens. It’s an oasis with a comfortable full bed, dedicated work area, and walk-in shower. Nestled in historic downtown, you can easily explore German St, with a variety of dining options, shopping, and outdoor activities a short walk away from the Potomac River and C&O tow path.
The space
A tiny space with mighty big charm, The Studio is a zen hideaway nestled within cottage gardens next to the Town Run (a spring-fed waterway that moves through town down to the Potomac River).
Birds, butterflies, dappled light, the sounds of a waterfall, and minimal design make this space a sanctuary that feels worlds away, while right in historic downtown Shepherdstown—steps from shopping, restaurants, Shepherd University, a farmers’ market, and more.
This Studio and our Town-Run gardens are best set up to accommodate couples or adults.
It is stocked with everything you need to recharge, reflect, and create. Enjoy a restful night’s sleep on a memory foam mattress. Full bed, bath linens, toiletries, cleaning supplies, and bug spray are provided for your convenience. We utilize free and clear detergents for cleaning in our Airbnb. The kitchenette is properly equipped for cooking and reheating simple meals for two. You’ll find necessary cooking and eating utensils, pots and pans, a kettle, coffee-bean grinder, pour-over coffee maker, mini fridge/freezer, dishes, wine glasses and opener, a plug-in induction cooktop, large cutting board, and more.
The Studio and Shepherdstown are surrounded by waterways, and during the hottest seasons it’s normal for insects of all kinds to call it home too. We've done our best to outfit The Studio with options of bug spray and have also treated the area best we can (we do love our pollinators) to ensure little buzzers like mosquitos don't cramp your style during your stay. The screen doors let the outdoors (breezes, smells, sounds) in, and keep the buggos out!
Guest access
Our gardens are open to enjoy and The Studio has two outdoor spaces where you can rock in a chair, practice yoga or meditate, or sit by the water under a canopy of trees.
Please No Smoker’s/Smoking/Vaping

My work: Author & Designer
I'm obsessed with: Plants, gardening, creating experiences.
I’m a designer, food stylist/photographer, recipe developer, cookbook author (YumUniverse and Pantry to Plate), and founder of Good Food Cooking School. I’m a former Chicagoan living in Shepherdstown, WV. Love to travel, cook (+ eat!) healthful food, garden, laugh, and road trip. I appreciate details of well-designed spaces, and prefer AirBnB because part of a great trip is feeling the love that folks put into their rentals.
