The space
We'll let this June 2026 review from Victor describe the place for starters:
"Our family had an incredible stay at this beautifully converted church. Every single detail of this property is incredibly top-notch, combining historic charm with modern luxury. Upon arrival, the complimentary snacks and beverages were a welcome treat that set the tone for our entire trip.
The layout was absolutely perfect for our family. We loved the full kitchen and used the [8]-person dining table for great family meals. The family room and giant TV were the center of our World Cup mini watch party. The guest bedrooms were spectacular and offered everyone a luxurious, comfortable night's sleep.
Two spaces really stole the show for us: The Back Covered Deck: The absolute highlight of our stay and a perfect spot to relax outside. The Underground Lounge: This basement space was incredibly fun and became our go-to spot for playing board games and poker.
The location could not be better. We were within easy walking distance to town and right in the center of all the activities."
Now We'll add some details:
Enjoy a heavenly stay in the former of St. John's Episcopal Church, built in 1895 and converted to a spacious home in 2025. Located in the Harpers Ferry residential Historic District, it creatively honors the building's origins while incorporating modern style and luxurious amenities.
Your retreat is located two doors away from a great bakery and within a block of a new coffee, sandwich, and ice cream shop. It's also in walking distance from cafes, restaurants, shops, the Harpers Ferry National Park, the Appalachian Trail Conservancy Headquarters, and the C&O Canal Towpath Trail. Children's park across the street.
You'll be an easy drive to snow tubing, river rafting and tubing, as well as other great historic sites and numerous wineries and breweries.
The cabin-feel primary suite has a King bed and zen-style en suite bathroom.
Additional guests can choose from 2 Queen bedrooms: one with an English Cottage vibe, the other filled with Tuscan Villa romance. A sweet loft with skylights offers two twin beds and a tv monitor for gaming.
You'll find a full kitchen, with an original stained glass window and an island fashioned from former church furnishings. The kitchen includes a range, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, beverage fridge, coffee maker, electric kettle, immersion blender, and French press.
Find your sanctuary from the day's activities in a large open-concept gathering room, which includes a dining table for 8, 2 skylights, ceiling fans, a leather couch, 2 recliners and enough comfy seating for all.
There are two beautiful full bathrooms with towel heaters plus 2 half baths.
A total of 4 Roku TVs for your favorite streaming apps plus some live TV options. Games and books are available for rainy or chilly days when you're stuck inside.
Outdoors, there's a covered deck on the back and a firepit across the parking lot in the woods. The church backs up to a peaceful wooded ravine, where deer and groundhogs visit regularly.
Up to 2 dogs permitted, but per Airbnb terms of service, only if added to the booking. A pet fee will be included in your charges.
There's ample free off-street parking in back for your group. EV charger available.

BUGS:
This home is in close proximity to the Potomac River bordering a wooded area, which means you'll see mostly harmless bugs (gnats, ladybugs, box elder bugs, etc.) common to rural environments -- some that swarm the area randomly without warning. Even if guests are careful, some of those bugs may enter the house and are attracted to lights. The best way to minimize bugs inside is to keep doors and windows closed at all times. Even then, the building is 130 years old and not totally airtight.
By booking the property, guests acknowledge that encounters with insects or wildlife are possible and are not grounds for refunds or cancellations.
You'll also want to clear the kitchen each night and securely package all food.
If you need help removing any bugs that may appear, don't hesitate to contact the hosts.
