Beautiful and walkable

Guests say this area is scenic and it’s easy to get around.
Solent View Hill Head is a newly refurbished dog friendly ground floor apartment, one bedroom with kingsize bed, walk in luxury double shower, and double sofabed in the lounge. Located on Hill Head seafront with sea views across the Solent to the Isle of Wight. This modern ground floor apartment is only 1 min walk from an all year round dog friendly beach. It has everything you need to enjoy your stay, smart TV, fast wifi, and space to store paddleboards. Dog friendly pub 15min walk away.

The space
Hill Head is particularly famed for windsurfing, kite surfing and paddle boarding, so this flat is perfectly situated to walk across the road and down the slipway to the beach . The nearby nature reserve attracts many birds such as Oyster Catchers, Little Egrets, Marsh Harrier the list is endless. The most wonderful and somewhat unique sight is to see the swans glide past the shore with paddle boarders behind them, often with a dog on their paddle boards as the sea is most often calm and smooth given the protection of the Isle of Wight to the Solent.

Refurbished in June and July 2021 and only listed on Airbnb in Early August 2021. We focused on ensuring we used local artists for the decor and have a description in our welcome manual to explain the origins of each piece . We wanted to create somewhere stylish to stay with a touch of luxury hence the double wall in shower and focus on comfort rather than seaside cliches . Newly installed kitchen with fitted dishwasher, washer dryer, microwave, oven and hob. One guest commented the kitchen was fitted out more fully than any Airbnb she has stayed in, she stayed over Christmas too! We made sure that if you want to cook there is everything for you from hand blenders to garlic crushers!

The shower room has large luxury double size shower including grab rail this helped my elderly mother in law feel safe!. New corner and comfortable John Lewis sofa bed, and new kingsize bed and mattress all with deep mattress toppers so a peaceful and good nights sleep awaits. There is very little traffic early mornings and at night, it may get a bit more busy during the day on a sunny day. At night the only thing you can hear are the Terns or on a foggy night a fog horn so it’s very peaceful.

A set of binoculars are await you so you can sit and watch the boats and views across to the Isle of Wight and take a closer look if you would like to. You can see Norris Castle on the Isle of Wight, the tops of the towers at Osborne House and a lovely view on f Cowes. There is also lots of books on the local area and games such as chess, draughts, Scrabble , Uno for the times you just want to sit and chill.

The space is fitted out a high standard and has unique pieces of art, ceramics and glass works from local artists. Hill Head and the surrounding area is becoming well known for inspiring artists due to the beauty and serenity of the seashore, views across to the Isle of Wight and the bird life around the nature reserve.

Dogs are part of our family so we have kitted out the flat with dog bowls, treats and a doggy first aid kit plus human of course. We have a mud daddy to wash down dogs with. The gated back yard is a secure area for dogs, and also a great space to enjoy a morning coffee and for paddle boards, surfboards, sailboards which can be stored safely.

We have a large dog crate available , a travel cot available on request, plus a high chair if needed, please can you state on your booking if you require these.

Guest access
Guests can easily walk to the local shops. There is one parking space outside the front of the flat on the right. There is further free non permit parking up the side streets.

Other things to note
Hill Head beach is currently voted the best in the county according to TripAdvisor. It is also voted as the best for wild swimming in Hampshire.

There are two dog friendly beaches where dogs can be let off lead, one that is available in the summer to the right of the flat, and one that is available in the winter to the left of the flat. From the harbour to the right is always dog friendly though.

The Chinese take away next door is open 5-9pm and there may be some traffic noise at this time as people turn up to pick up their food.

From April 22nd 2025 till April 2026, the pub a few doors away and across the road is being rebuilt so there may be some construction noise during the day Monday to Friday 8:30am - 4-6pm depending on summer or winter.

Neighborhood highlights

Hill Head beach is currently voted the best in the county according to TripAdvisor.

Hill Head village is wonderfully situated and a quiet place to stay, with one pub, The Osborne View (across the road) with a huge pub garden that sits directly off the beach, that seats 400 people.

The flat is situated next to the only take away, a Chinese restaurant, and across the road is Breezes a great little cafe with a wonderful outside quirky seating area, perfect for breakfasts and lunches.

A short walk along the beach brings you to Hill Head Sailing Club, and a lovely little harbour. Behind the harbour there is Titchfield Haven Nature Reserve and cafe, which is a fabulous place to sit and watch the birds and boats.

Titchfield Nature Reserve is a nationally renown wetland habitat where many different types of birds call their home and many migratory birds spend their time.

Hill Head is situated on the Solent Way and there is flat walks in both directions, we pushed my mother-in law in her wheelchair for many miles quite happily direct from the flat.

The area is particularly known for paddle boarding when there is little wind as the sea is very shallow , so also great for swimming and paddle boarding. When the wind is strong the kite surfers come out , which makes spectacular viewing even on an overcast day. The beach is shingle, but there is some sand at low tide. There is also local paddle boarding lessons organised from the Sailing Club, and also the Hampshire Kite Surfing Centre located at Hill Head.
