The Dome is a unique luxury geodesic glamping dome overlooking the beautiful Greenbrier River. Be immersed in nature while also having all of the conveniences of home. Just 15 minutes from Lewisburg and 30 minutes from the Greenbrier Resort, the dome is the ultimate riverside retreat.
The space
Inside the 30 ft geodesic dome is 700 sq ft of open living space which includes:
KITCHENETTE: A modern kitchenette with full size fridge/freezer, toaster oven, microwave, plates/bowls/cups, cutting board and silverware & utensils. Glassware is provided for your cocktails and wine.
COFFEE/TEA/WATER: A drip coffee maker and electric kettle are provided. Clean, filtered water is at the kitchen tap and a light assortment of teas is provided. We also supply a french press and coffee grinder for those that travel with their beans.
LIVING AREA: The living area has a 22 ft bay window overlooking the river and pull out Queen size sofa bed.
BEDROOM: King size bed with soft 400-count sheets and four hypoallergenic pillows. Wardrobe is available for extra storage and hanging closet items.
BATHROOM: On demand hot water for relaxing showers, complimentary shampoo, conditioner, soap and hair dryer.
MEDIA/DATA: A sharp sounding Klipsch Bluetooth speaker is provided. Wifi is included. Floor outlets have built in USB chargers.
The Dome is located on The Riverstead, an organic family homestead. The homestead features vegetable gardens, fruit orchards, berries, cut flowers, honeybees and chickens. The property is located in a lush Greenbrier river valley with views of an old rock quarry and Muddy Creek Mountain.
There is always a chance to see wildlife such as deer, otters, fox, coyote, bald eagles, geese, wild turkeys, mergansers, black bears and cranes. In the warm months, you'll also see many people floating the river as Fort Spring to Alderson is one of the most popular river floats with small rapids and white water.
Guest access
Guests will have full access to the dome, the deck and the grass area next to dome. Guests will have access to a fire pit in the grass area and there is firewood available for purchase.
Past the fire pit is the path leading to the river. Please note that the path down to the river is currently rustic & rocky. Keep this in mind if you plan to access the river or bring a kayak or similar boat/float. Water shoes are a must!
Other things to note
One benefit of staying at the Riverstead is the opportunity to purchase fresh food crafted here on the homestead. We send guests a list of the food items available a few days ahead of arrival and the items can be in the dome at check-in.
Due to the dome's lack of interior ventilation, cooking inside the dome is limited to a microwave & toaster oven. There is a Blackstone grill available for cooking outside.
While we have positioned the dome with privacy in mind, our home is also on the 5-acre property. We have 2 children and you may occasionally hear them.
There are train tracks on the other side of the river. Trains run any time of the day and night. Amtrak passenger trains run every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. The Amtrak station in Alderson is a 10-minute drive and shuttles to and from are available. Please inquire for details.
The dome is 100% wheel chair accessible with a ramp from the parking area to the deck and a ramp at the door. Please note that there is a curb on the shower and there isn't much space on each side of the king bed.
Large groups, parties, and extra overnight guests who are not approved ahead of time will not be permitted.
