A private, self-contained, en-suite annex, next to the River Wye, in a tranquil setting.
Direct access to covered decking area & shared garden so you can enjoy the water, wildlife and countryside.
Food prep area with fridge, microwave, sink, kettle & toaster.
Plenty of walks from the doorstep, cycle routes and climbing opportunities. Perfectly located to explore the Peak District. Car strongly recommended.
The annexe is attached to our family home, but has its own entrance.

The space
All on the ground floor, this is a modern extension, built in 2006. As a new build, it is well insulated, has underfloor heating and has floor to ceiling glass on two sides to ensure it is light and airy.
You have your own entrance door into a shared porch, where 2 bikes can be stored safely. A further door (with internal lock) leads into your accommodation.
There is a king size bed, smart TV, wi-fi, table and 2 chairs where you can enjoy your tea/coffee whilst watching TV or taking in the view of the river and the visiting wildlife.
You have direct access ,via bi-fold doors, to your own covered decking area and the shared garden (garden shared with the owners and 2 dogs) for a real riverside location. We have now (2023) installed a cover over the decking to enable use of the outside space when the English weather is less favourable. There is also a slatted screen to give a little more privacy from our own seating area.
Through a door you have a small food prep room with fridge (with small freezer compartment), sink, microwave, toaster, cutlery, crockery and glasses.
We also provide teas, coffee, sugar, milk and some cereals.
Another door then takes you into your private shower room, also with underfloor heating.
Towels and bedding are provided.
We now (March 2023) have high speed broadband and a 43" smart TV. Mobile signal is poor (or non-existent), but you can use WiFi calling if your phone and carrier support it - many do.
We provide local OS Maps (1:25k) and some guide books for you to use during your stay.

Guest access
Access to the shared entrance porch (2 bikes can be stored safely here), bedroom, utility, en-suite shower room, decking, garden and grounds.

Other things to note
We would highly recommend a car if you stay with us, especially in Winter. There is no UBER here and few taxis (book in advance). Public transport (173 bus) is very limited.
We have two dogs and a cat that are all very friendly, but if you do have allergies it's worth knowing. When the weather is good, the dogs may be outside in the garden.
Please note - usually there is no mobile phone signal in the property (ideal for some guests!?). Some networks may get a weak signal outside at times. You can use WiFi calling if your phone and carrier support it - many do - we have a landline you can use if needed..
The walks, including those to the pubs or bus stop at Monsal Head, involve walking on tracks and trails (or you can walk along the country lane, but there is no pavement or street lighting).

Neighborhood highlights

Cressbrook Mill is a picturesque and quiet, rural location at the end of Monsal Dale. The property is perfectly located for walking, cycling, climbing and exploring the Peak District.
There are numerous walks straight from the doorstep including the Monsal Trail (via path), Cressbrook Dale and walking along the beautiful River Wye via Water-cum-Jolly Dale.
Monsal Head, with Stable Bar and Hobbs Cafe (limited opening hours), is a mile away on foot. The popular Packhorse country pub is about a mile and a half, in Little Longstone. Both are a downhill walk on the way back!
The Monsal Trail is also perfect for an easy bike ride or there are many bridleways and trails if you have a mountain bike and are more adventurous.
For climbing, the Rubicon Wall is just 200m away. A venue that many climbers travel for miles to get to, or make special holiday arrangements to be near.
A short walk (up hill) to Cressbrook Hall (wedding venue)

Wendy - I was born locally and have lived at Cressbrook Mill from the age of 5, when it was just a cluster of derelict buildings. My father converted the Mill into apartments around the turn of the millennium and it is now a beautiful, mature development. I have been running a busy holiday apartment at the Mill for over 8 years and really enjoy meeting an interesting mix of people. Many return every year and some book several times each year, so I can't be too scary! We have 2 dogs and love walking all over the Peaks, or further away if we get chance. Stephen - I moved to the Peaks after I met Wendy and never left! I love exploring the bridleways and singletrack all over the white and dark peaks on my mountain bike. I also enjoy getting out with the dogs on the nearby walks or planning new routes. My camera usually goes with me as I'm an enthusiastic amateur, always looking to see what I can catch. It also goes with me to race circuits and hillclimbs when I can - either to spectate or to compete in my Lotus Elise. We travelled to visit family in New Zealand when the kids were very young and have been to the usual summer holiday destinations of Greek Islands, Algarve, verious places in France (where we also have family) plus the UK. In 2015 we ventured to the USA on a self-made road trip, taking in several National Parks and the West Coast. It was fantastic and we hope to go back to see more. The annex is attached to our home but separated by one door, so we can leave you in peace, or be on hand to help.
