This serene lakefront cottage in Coventry, RI is situated on the Audubon Society of RI's 300+ acre Maxwell Mays Wildlife Refuge.
The charming, old-fashioned wood-and-fieldstone camp boasts fireplace heat, a full kitchen, a screened porch, a dock, a large deck overlooking the secluded pond, an outdoor gas grill, and indoor plumbing.
It is a great place for canoeing, bird watching, nature walks and spectacular sunsets! Perfect for a family vacation or romantic getaway.
Available May-Oct.
The space
We keep the gates closed to prevent trespassers from meandering through the private areas of the property, including the lake cottage.
Linens and towels are only provided for ‘weekly’ rentals. You will need to bring your own beach towels as well. The main bedroom has a queen bed, the second bedroom has a twin bed, and the living room has a queen futon.
The lake house is a beautiful but rustic retreat. The only source of heat is a huge stone fireplace in the living room, (wood supplied). There is no air conditioning, but there are two fans for your use.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, pans, dishes, and utensils. In addition, there is an outdoor grill on the deck with a propane tank.
We recommend that you bring bottled water for drinking. Most people do not like the well water since it is too hard. There are also places nearby to purchase bottled water if necessary.
There are great walking trails on the property. We recommend that you bring insect repellent, wear long pants tucked into your socks, and check yourself for ticks regularly as deer ticks are a big problem in RI, especially in wooded areas.
There is no internet or TV at the cottage. Most cell phones can be used sporadically while there. You might want to bring a radio. We do have games, playing cards, and many books.
Swimming and fishing is phenomenal at the pond, so bring your fishing gear if you like. Catch and release only, please! There are two canoes with life jackets and oars for your use.
