The Farmhouse is a century old home located on a private 50-acre wildlife refuge and nature preserve near Cedar Rapids.

City close with country charm, the home is 10 minutes from the Cedar Rapids/Eastern Iowa Airport, Lake MacBride, and 10 minutes to Cedar Rapids & about 25 minutes to Iowa City.

The space
The Farmhouse is a 100+ year old home which has two bedrooms and one sleeper sofa located in the living room accommodating up to six guests.

Bedroom one is on the main level and has a queen bed, closet, and laundry access. This bedroom does not have a door, as it was not traditionally a bedroom, but there is a curtain for privacy.
Bedroom two is upstairs and has a queen bed, work space, and loveseat.
The living area has a full sleeper sofa and ROKU tv with access to high speed internet.
The kitchen includes essentials to cook basic meals and a complimentary coffee & tea bar via Keurig brewing system.
There is also a 5-cup drop coffee pot, a Chemex, ceramic pour over and french press depending on how you like to make your coffee.
Uniquely, the back porch is part of the llama pasture and don't be surprised if our charming creatures come right up to the windows during your stay with us!
Within one mile of the farm you will find a darling wine & spirits shop, a restaurant & bar as well as a gas station. The farm is about a five minute drive to an award winning winery and distillery and is conveniently located between Cedar Rapids and Iowa City.
Guest access
The Farmhouse is your private space to enjoy, I live on the property in a separate dwelling.
Parking is available in front of the farmhouse by the steps, please don't block the garages or barn doors.
Guests have access to our common areas, hiking trails, and can visit with the llamas in the barn or at the fence. They frequently visit the backyard of the farmhouse for hang outs.
Your stay does not include our offered llama experiences such as farm visits, special events or llama hikes. Please reach out to Prairie Patch Farm to reserve if you are interested in more llama interactions during your stay.

Accessibility:
The farm driveway and common areas are gravel
Entrance to the home includes a few steps on the porch that lead into the kitchen.
Coffee, Cooking & Water:
Enjoy complimentary coffee (keurig, coffee pot,french press or pour over) and tea, you can also find the basics in cookware and spices/condiments.
*Please note that we are on a well system
-Water may sometimes smell like sulfur and the minerals in the water may leave orange mineral stains in the shower and sinks
-High quality reverse osmosis water (RO) is available for drinking and cooking on a separate spigot on the kitchen sink
Bedrooms:
-The main floor bedroom does not have a door, but a curtain for privacy which includes a queen bed, walk-in closet, room darkening curtains, and washer/dryer with detergent for your convenience.
Bedroom two is located upstairs and has a queen bed, loveseat and work space.
TV & Internet:
-The living area has a ROKU Tv and includes basic channels, and our library of movies and TV shows.
-High Speed fiber WIFI available.
Heating and Cooling:
-Wall unit heaters for colder nights can be adjusted on right side of the units and in-window AC units.
***Window AC units typically get put in first week of May and removed in late September.
BUG & CRITTER DISCLOSURE:
Though I do mitigation for bugs you can absolutely expect to see them inside and outside of the farmhouse due to the homes age and farm elements
****There are no refunds for bug or critter sightings!!
Bugs including flies, spiders, ticks, ants, crickets, moths, ants, mosquitos, asian beetles, box elder-bugs, and wasps which are common around the farm and creatures such as coyotes, raccoons, opossums, mice, bats, and snakes all call Prairie Patch Farm home as it is a wildlife refuge and nature preserve.

Interacting with llamas:
We welcome you to pet and interact with the llamas they are very friendly, but this is at your own risk. You can reach out and pet them on the neck if they approach you, I kindly ask that you do not chase them or feed them food of any kind unless it is feed you have purchased from the farm during your stay.
Inside the barn the llama stall is off limits to guests as well as their pasture and areas beyond the farmhouse backyard as this is where llamas eat and rest, however you can go inside the llama barn to visit with them at the stall fence.
I cannot guarantee that the llamas will visit the backyard of the farmhouse during your stay, though they commonly enter there during the early morning and evening.
There is also have a small herd of goats and pigs, please do not feed them but you are welcome to pet them. Please watch your fingers!
**Throughout the year I host guests in our community for farm visits, llama hikes, and special events and these may occur during your stay.

PETS POLICY:
WE HAVE A NO PETS POLICY for the safety of our animals and yours we do not allow pets during your stay.
Cancellation Policy:
Cancellation policy is set to strict- it is recommended to add the optional trip insurance to your booking.
GUEST POLICY:
The farmhouse capacity is for up to 6 registered guests, we along with AirBNB policy do not allow gatherings or parties of any kind associated with your booking.
You are however, welcome to have additional friends/family to visit who are not on the original reservation during your stay for a fee.
Up to 6 additional visitors are permitted for a day pass of $15.00 per person.
