The space
The double height reception room of this property was built in 1880 and is at the top of the building, as the former studio of the Victorian portrait photographer Walter Kevis.
It is an unusual room, with great character and feeling of space and is filled with original art.

The 3 bedrooms on the first floor offer flexible accommodation for up to 6 people. We also have a sofa bed in the main studio space for an additional two guests. Each bedroom has its own hairdryer, two ultra soft cotton towels per guest (one large bath sheet and one hand towel) Egyptian cotton sheets and duvet covers, two hypo allergenic pillows per guest, with Oxford bordered Egyptian cotton pillowcases, and plenty of hangars, Sweet Orange and Geranium hand wash, shampoo and hand lotion all supplied by local brand Artful Teasing from Petworth. Each guest can also relax in the luxury cotton bathrobes supplied for use whilst staying here. An iron and ironing board is ready for action for those with wedding outfits to perfect!

The studio is equipped with board games galore and a retro music system (cassettes and vinyl welcome!), books, maps, magazines, guitar and a projector with huge film screen.

The kitchen is ready for you to make your own breakfast/brunch/supper with equipment for 8 guests, with teas, coffee and milk provided and a range of sizes of cafeterias to make decent coffee. Or just step outside and hop into one of the coffee shops in the town.

Guest access
Access to the property is through its own ground floor front door off a small private garden courtyard which leads from a larger shared use courtyard off the corner of Park Road - this is "Hidden Petworth"! The apartment is on the first and second floors of a listed three storey building. The ground floor of the building is an art gallery with a separate entrance on Lombard Street and we are also happy for you to arrive this way when you check in.

Other things to note
The entire apartment has been refurbished to a high standard and is only used for lettings. We are happy to welcome you and guide you in. The apartment is self contained with it's own key safe self check in if preferred. We are helped by our wonderful housekeeper Sam! Our Egyptian cotton hypo-allergenic laundry is all professionally laundered.
We live 2 miles away so can easily help you if you need us to! Eg suggesting places to buy food or to help you arrange for food deliveries to be made direct to you.
Petworth is a small and peaceful town if you need to stay for a while. It’s worth exploring the spectacular Petworth Park, 2 minutes walk from the Penthouse. There is so much to do here- walk, cycle, visit art galleries, shop, eat, read, relax or head further away watch polo, visit Goodwood - we can help with any of your plans!

My work: We run Kevis House Gallery, a contemporary Art Gallery in the heart of the town.
Speaks English and French
We own and run Kevis House in the centre of Petworth. The two upper floors of the building are dedicated to the self- contained Petworth Penthouse with it's own independent access, through a pretty private courtyard and in the ground floor we run Kevis House Gallery with separate access on Lombard St. We love the town we work in and all the people here, we live on a hill just 2 miles away. We are very keen walkers, gardeners, enjoy cooking, reading, singing and listening to music, art (of course!) and even historic cars with an Austin 7 that occasionally can be spotted in town. Most favourite of all - Lucca our fox red labrador! Do come and stay...
