or for the more adventurous bunch...!

Our Favorites in Boone:
App State FOOTBALL!! Head up to "The Rock" in the fall to watch Appalachian State play.

The Blue Ridge Parkway is 1/4 mile away, and there are lots of great overlooks and hiking spots off the Parkway!

One of our favorite hikes is the E.B Jeffress Cascades trail. It is a short, easy/moderate hike down to a small set of waterfalls with a great overlook.

Rough Ridge is another great, moderate hike. Cleared and marked trail leading to a beautiful 270 degree overlook.

Hebron Rock Colony is the best! Drive south on the parkway to Price Park. Cook out at one of the park provided grills, then hike a short moderate hike (Hebron is located off the Boone Fork Trail) to the coolest bunch of rocks in the High Country. Sunbathe on the rocks until you burn. It's the best.

The South Fork New River has a lot to offer...
kayaking, tubing, canoeing, fly fishing, swimming, etc.
If your two vehicles allow, in spring or early summer, take one or both of our kayaks to the Todd island Park off of Railroad Grade Road on the South Fork of the New River. It's a great float down to the Cranberry Springs overpass. (Leave vehicle at the end, parking available). There are also a few companies along the river where you can rent tubes, kayaks, and get a shuttle to/from the river. A couple of these places also have bikes that you can rent for a bicycle ride through Todd.

The Watauga County Farmer's Market is held every Saturday in May-November from 8am-12pm in Boone and has lots of awesome vendors and goodies!

*FOOD*
Boone:
Hatchet Coffee- There is no better coffee.
Black Cat Burrito - Everything is good here. (This is a dive bar)
Macado's - local/college favorite (You +3 get the Hindenburg sandwich)
Capone's Pizza - Chicago style pizza, very good (Big Joe's Buffalo Chicken with pineapple)

West Jefferson:
Black Jack Pub and Grill - "Best burger in Town," It's da best. I think about this burger all the time.

Havana Cafe- Hole in the wall, but it is worth finding! (Cuban and fried plantains)

New River Brewing- brewery with some

Fleetwood:
Park Vista - I haven't been to the inn but the food is amazing. Jump off the parkway at milepost 268 for a great lunch or dinner

Deep Gap:
Jim's Produce - its a very nice produce stand. We loved going here, you should go here. Get seasonal produce Memorial day until Thanksgiving.

Thompson's Seafood and Country Cooking- My husband and his friends alway talk about this place. He always says "It's where the locals go." Go here if that's what you're in to.
