This lovely stone cottage is cozy and charming. It's off grid, but very comfortable, with hot and cold running water, a huge fireplace (firewood provided) state-of-the art Scandinavian separating toilet, cooktop, luxury foam mattresses, solar lights (no electricity), and a food cooler with ice packs provided by host (no fridge, no oven). No wifi, lots of birds and trees. Come glamping!
The space
This is a very special off-grid experience, offering a taste of tiny house living. But it's seasonal only (Memorial Day - Columbus Day).
The stone cottage was built in 1942 (with all hand tools) and was the home of the camp director when the place was a girls' summer camp. It has a stone exterior and slate roof, with hardwood flooring and wood paneled walls.
Nope, there's no Wi-Fi, no electricity, no air conditioning, no tv, and only ATT cells work here. Guests report being super relaxed by the end of their stay!
I supply coffee, tea, ice packs for the cooler and half and half. you'll get eggs from the chickens. I supply firewood - please do not bring wood from out of state. No outdoor fires allowed, per local regulations.
Guest access
This cottage is all yours. You are welcome to walk around the farm (watch out for electric fence, nails and chicken poop). I have one other, year-round airbnb rental on the property.
Other things to note
*Please try to arrive before nightfall* I live on a narrow dirt road and it can be a bit intimidating to drive up in the dark for the first time!*
There is no electricity
There is a lot of black bear activity around here. I haven't lost a guest yet, but guests need to be aware of not leaving food outside or in their cars.
