This beautifully restored 1800s waterfront home sits in the heart of Ferragudo, one of the Algarve’s most picturesque and unspoiled villages, just steps from cafés, restaurants, the square, beaches, and scenic coastal trails.

Enjoy your private rooftop deck with sweeping 180° harbor views, hot tub, and outdoor dining as the sun sets over the water, offering a relaxed and more authentic stay.

The space
Right outside your door, Ferragudo’s authentic village life unfolds in one of the Algarve’s few active fishing villages. Watch local fishermen unload their daily catch and experience the rhythm of a traditional coastal community.

Just two houses from your door, you’ll find the local fish and fruit market, perfect for picking up fresh ingredients to enjoy at home. Everything is within easy walking distance, no car needed.

From the house, turn left along the quayside, and in about a 2-minute walk you’ll reach Praia da Angrinha, a quiet beach mainly used by locals. Continue towards the fort and discover a hidden cave before arriving at Praia Grande, a larger beach with restaurants, water activities, and everything you need for a full beach day. Both beaches are protected by breakwaters, making swimming safer and more comfortable than at many Atlantic beaches.

For nature lovers, a stunning coastal trail begins at Praia Grande. Follow the cliffs with beautiful views as you pass beaches like Molhe, Pintadinho, and Caneiros, part of the famous Seven Hanging Valleys trail, considered one of Europe’s most scenic coastal walks.

Back at the house, unwind with a drink, rinse off in the outdoor shower, and relax in the hot tub as the sun sets over the harbor.

The surrounding streets are lined with traditional houses, small shops, and local restaurants. Within a short walk, you’ll reach the village square, the heart of Ferragudo, where life still revolves around the waterfront and its cafés and cobbled streets.

Inside, the home blends traditional character with modern comfort. The entrance level features a master bedroom, a guest room with bunk beds, and a modern bathroom. A traditional, narrow and relatively steep staircase (typical for historic homes) leads to the upper floor.

Upstairs, you’ll find a bright living area with dining space and a fully equipped kitchen fitted with modern, high-quality appliances, including granite work surfaces, stove, oven, fridge, freezer, microwave, and a hood with external ventilation—everything you need to cook comfortably at home.

A final staircase leads to your private rooftop terrace (43 m²), offering sun throughout the day and panoramic 180° views of the harbor, beach, and village, with outdoor dining, lounge seating, BBQ, and a private hot tub for up to 6 guests.

Guest access
The whole house is yours to use with full privacy. There are two private entrances.

Ferragudo have free street parking and there are plenty of free parking avilable 200 to 300 meter from the house. As the house is in the historic centre wth may restaurants, parking close to the house cannot always be guaranteed, especially during evenings and in high season.

Other things to note
If you stay 7 nights or longer, a maid will check up on the house mid-week.

There are Air-condition on bouth floors. One in the master bedroom and one in the living room.

The Master bed is 1,85 m wide, the guest room 1,5 m, and the bunk beds are 0,9 m wide.

During the summer of 2019, the house next door was demolished and replaced with a new building. This created some disturbance for some of our guests in 2019. The demolishing work was completed in 2020.

Ferragudo is considered one of the most picturesque places on the Algarve with this property as the centerpiece on many of the photos found on the web with traditional Portuguese houses tumbling down the hillside towards the waterfront where the fishermen are unloading the catch of the day just in front of the house

Despite the influx of tourism in recent years Ferragudo has managed to retain much of its traditional character and charm, The village still has an active fishing community, and visitors can enjoy local seafood dishes in the many restaurants and cafes.

Village life still revolves around the quayside square 100 meters from the house with its narrow cobbled streets and steps, meandering up from the old quay to the summit of the small village with 2000 inhabitants.

There is a small playground for the children close to the house as well on Pria Grande.

Beaches in Algarve are ranked among the best in Europe and there is no shortage of high-quality beaches close to our house including Praia Grande, Praia dos Caneiros, and Praia do Molhe. These beaches are known for their golden sand, crystal-clear waters, and stunning rock formations.

Considering to be one of the best golf destinations in the world you have 12 excellent golf courses within 20 km from the house.

We fell in love with our charming one of its kind house in the historical part of Ferragudo on a trip to Algarve 2016. 2019 we decided to retire early to be able to live in this beautiful part of the world. For us it is the perfect spot to relax, enjoy nature and go for daily walks with breathtaking beaches, golden rocky cliffs smelling the freshness of the Atlantic. 320 days of sun per year combined with excellent seafood and high-quality local produce and most of all the super friendly Portuguese people makes this the perfect place to live. We love to travel and as experienced travelers, we understand the challenges of finding great places to stay and we always try our best to make your stay perfect and unforgettable. We have a fantastic maid Rosa that has been working with us since 2016. She speaks very good English and keeps the house spotlessly clean and can provide you with onsite support. We are not on-site when we rent out, so we will not have the pleasure of meeting you personally, but we are certainly reachable 24/7 by email, phone or Whats App Since we live in Ferragudo we are happy to provide guidance for local restaurants and hidden spots and answer all your questions before and during your stay. We are looking forward to welcoming you to Ferragudo.
