Newington House is a short walk from Bushman's lagoon & just off Westbourne rd. Wraparound, covered deck with stunning views of the sea, river mouth & up-river. Swimming pool with awning for shade, two lounges, a sun filled, wind sheltered internal courtyard with fire plinth, braai & weber. A large fenced garden (pet friendly) & outside seating area. Rain Water tanks. Solar power. Alarm, Armed Response, LCD TV, DSTV & Wifi. Flat & cottage (sleeps 7) can be booked for your excl. use for a fee.
The space
Ideally located off Westbourne Road, less than 5 minutes walk away from the popular Bushmans River lagoon.
Bedrooms one and two are interleading, perfect for families (there is a door leading into the lounge off bedroom 2 as well). Bedroom 3 is a King sized double or can be made up as two singles on request and Bedroom 4, two single beds. There are two shared bathrooms in the house.
For larger groups, two other cottages/listings are available for booking exclusively to Newington House guests. Newington Flat (sleeps 4 in two bedrooms and bathroom with shower) and Newington Cottage (sleeps 3 in two interleading bedrooms with kitchenette and bathroom with bath and shower).
We welcome well-behaved pets, with permission only.
The house features 55,000 litre rain water storage tanks allowing for water throughout the year when the municipality lets the town down.
Guest access
The entire property will be available for your use while you stay there, including the outside laundry. Two separate Airbnb listings Newington House and Newington Cottage can be booked by Newington House guests, if needed. If you do not book them, they will not be used by anyone else and you will also not have access to them.
Other things to note
We have rain water tanks and are also connected to the Town municipal water. Water is scarce in Kenton, please use it sparingly. We have a septic tank sewerage system, please be careful not to dispose of any foreign objects into the system. The house operates on rain water tanks unless these are empty due to low rainfall, in which case town water can be used. Alan and Peter are able to assist with any questions about how to change over to town water. Town water is not very nice to drink so if the tanks are empty then drinking water can be bought at the Spar.
At the moment, there is a shortage of water and an additional water levy of R300 per 4 people will be charged per day and thereafter R75 per head day. This will be reviewed based on the ongoing water situation
The tap on the left of the kitchen sink has filtered tank water which is potable.
The blue water container will be filled with drinkable water. If empty, use the tap next to the kitchen sink to fill it up.
During load shedding there is no water in the house because the water pump has no power. The town water also is not available during loadshedding due to the unavailability of the pump that pumps water into the reservoir.
There are buckets in each bathroom that can be used to refill the toilet cisterns in need during load shedding.

For those who know and love Kenton, no explanation is needed. For those who have not explored this beautiful coastline, you are in for a treat! Unspoiled and under developed coastline with abundant natural vegetation and several coves and beaches to explore between the Bushmans and Kariega rivers. From a Blue Flag beach to lagoons, sand dunes and rock pools, there is so much to explore. Kenton also has several ATMs, an excellent Spar supermarket, a pharmacy, butcher, baker, hairdressers, beauty salons and even some clothes shops.
