Mariners Cottage is a beautifully restored fisherman’s cottage, tucked away on the cobbled streets of Appledore, just moments from the quay. Recently renovated, this cosy, dog-friendly retreat is perfect for couples or small families seeking a relaxed coastal escape. Dogs are welcome throughout, including upstairs, with treats provided.
Enjoy scenic walks, independent shops and fantastic local eateries on your doorstep, before unwinding in front of the log burner.

The space
As you step through the door of Mariners Cottage, you’re welcomed into a calm, beautifully cosy space designed for rest and relaxation.
Fully restored and thoughtfully furnished, the cottage has been finished to a high standard with your comfort at its heart. You’ll find superfast WiFi, a Samsung Smart TV with Netflix and Amazon Prime, and an Amazon Echo for your stay.
The open-plan kitchen and living area creates a lovely social space, perfect for unwinding after a day exploring Appledore and the surrounding coast. Cosy up on the sofa, light the log burner, and enjoy a relaxed evening in. The vintage dining table with bespoke wooden bench comfortably seats four.
Patio doors open onto a small, private courtyard which is a little suntrap at certain times of day, ideal for morning coffee or a quiet evening drink. A washing line and hose are available for rinsing sandy swimwear.
The bathroom has been carefully designed to suit the character of the cottage and includes a heated towel rail. Towels are provided; we kindly ask that these are not used for the beach or for dogs.
Upstairs, via the steep staircase typical of Appledore cottages, you’ll find the original exposed beams uncovered during renovation, along with a rope handrail. There are some open gaps between beams, so extra care is needed with young children and dogs.
The king bedroom has been designed for a comfortable, restful night’s sleep, with a vintage chest of drawers and hanging rail. The twin bedroom, located at the front of the cottage, also offers storage and hanging space. An iron, ironing board, hoover, first aid kit and travel cot are available.

Please feel free to message us if you’d like to discuss the cottage’s suitability before booking. Due to the steep staircase and central village location, the cottage may not be suitable for very young children or guests with mobility issues. There is no on-site parking, and due to the width of the front door, the cottage is not suitable for wheelchair users.
Guest access
Guests have exclusive access to the entire cottage, with the exception of a locked cupboard in the king bedroom and the loft space.
Self check-in is via a key safe located by the front door, allowing for a simple and flexible arrival.
A detailed welcome guide is sent prior to your stay, including parking information, local recommendations and everything you need for a smooth, stress-free check-in.
Other things to note
Please note there is no on-site parking at the cottage. Free parking is available on the Quay (around a two-minute walk) or at Churchfields Car Park (approximately three minutes on foot). A parking map and full check-in details will be sent prior to arrival to make things as easy as possible, and we’re always happy to share parking tips ahead of your stay.
While it is possible to drive a short way up Vernons Lane to unload, the exit at the top is very tight, so we don’t generally recommend this.
We are very happy to welcome up to two well-behaved dogs.
