Meet your host
Born in the 80s
Where I went to school: SMU MBA, St. Edwards Alum
Hi, I'm Alex, owner of The Lone Star Hideaway. We are a Texas styled cabin perched on a hill in the mountains of Boone, NC. We cannot wait to welcome you.
My husband and I spent the better years of the last two decades traveling the
world (both for work and play). I happen to believe that there are few things in life better than travel. Immersing oneself in new cultures and surroundings connects us, molds us, and in many ways, heals us. While our days traveling the world have grown fewer and further between, we have found that life keeps us just as busy as we split our time between Boone, NC and Dallas, TX.
Five years ago, I left a fast paced life in corporate to invest in my family. I'm now kept busy as a boy mom, and spend my time working our renovation projects and design. I am a former yoga teacher, and, of course, dabble in sourdough bread baking. When I can catch my breath, I indulge in a good read (when I can). Above all, Jesus is central to our family. In the season of unexpected paths, we have chosen to trust and follow Him, hence the birth of The Lone Star Hideaway (which we never expected to do). We love sharing our space with young families and guests, and take pride knowing that we are bringing a piece of our family to the Blue Ridge Mountains. Creating experiences and helping others to feel special is our way of connecting and finding new meaning.
