Ideal for couples, small groups & families, including pets, everyone loves Llanfyllin House.

Highlighting the opulence of the gold rush era, Llanfyllin House is carefully curated, providing an authentic historic experience.

Llanfyllin is centrally located, within easy walking distance of the CBD, cafes, restaurants & just a short drive from attractions such as Sovereign Hill, Ballarat Wildlife Park, Ballarat Art Gallery, & Lake Wendouree & Gardens.

The space
Commissioned for construction in the late 1800's by Cr. Isaiah Pearce, mayor of Ballarat East & a prominent local businessman, Llanfyllin House is one of the original properties of the area and this beautiful, double brick villa reflects all the spoils that were possible as a result of the gold rush.

Built as a wedding gift for Cr. Pearce's daughter and her new husband, the home remains largely as it was originally built, and with decor artfully designed by nationally awarded property stylist Jo Powell, a focus on aesthetic quality invites guests to experience a beautifully curated environment during their stay.

To ensure guest comfort, modern conveniences have not been overlooked but have instead been added as discretely as possible.

Entering the home, you will cross the wide, iron-laced verandah and pass through the large front entry door, surrounded by ornate stained glass windows, to the central hallway.

The Parlour (Living Room) is situated at the front of the house, offering a comfortable space to sit and read or talk, with a large open fire, drinks trolley and bay window overlooking the century-old front garden. The television is also discreetly housed within this space.

The Drawing Room (Formal Dining Room) is also situated at the front of the house, and houses an upright piano, dining table, games table and sofa, this is a room to engage in activities with your fellow guests. With a view out onto the front verandah and century-old garden, this is the perfect location to play board games, play music & sing or read our vintage magazines and newspapers in front of the large open fire.

Each bedroom features antique beds, hotel quality mattresses and the finest European French Flax Bed Linen. The main bedroom boasts a gorgeous open fire, and the twin bedroom has an antique genuine timber double-seated school desk.

The large kitchen is at the rear of the home and has a separate scullery (butler's pantry) and larder (walk-in pantry) adjoining it. The kitchen itself has a farmhouse-style dining table and chairs and a wood-burning stove. Also discreetly housed in this area is an upright dual-fuel stove, microwave, dishwasher and refrigerator.

The Maid's Room has been adapted for use as a dedicated workspace for those who require it but retains its vintage charm

The bathroom includes a shower, vanity and toilet.

Fully enclosed, the backyard, with its cafe-style outdoor setting, is the perfect spot to enjoy a cuppa or glass of wine while watching the chicken's free range in the garden.

Guest access
Guests will have exclusive use of the entire property during their booking, excluding the housekeeping storeroom & garage.

If you have any queries about this, please get in touch.

Other things to note
Our friendly backyard chickens - Florrie, Mattie & Lil - are a highlight feature for many guests, who delight in watching the 'girls' free-range in the garden, collecting their eggs & cooking them up for breakfast.

Of course, this is not a requirement! If you prefer, the girls can happily be confined to their coop for the duration of your stay.
