Beautiful area

Guests love this home’s scenic location.
A basic, traditional Devon stone bothy beside the South West Coast Path. It has electricity and simple facilities, but no hot water. Sleeps 1, or 2 at a squeeze; height restricted. Guests bring their own bedding. Best suited to walkers, hikers and people used to camping. Outside flushing loo with small cold-water sink. Parking for 1 car at the top of the drive, with a 100m steep walk down/up to the Bothy.

The space
The Bothy is a simple, camping-style stone bothy adjoining the South West Coast Path. The entrance looks out onto a public footpath.

Fresh tap water will be provided for your arrival in metal bottles. Please return the bottles to Jane when they need refilling. Additional water is available from the outside tap by Jane’s kitchen, about 10 feet from your entrance. A hose is also available.

The door locks with the key provided. The outside bolts have been disabled and cannot be used.

There are two electric sockets, suitable for the microwave, kettle, or charging electrical devices. A cool box and ice blocks can be provided.

A small electric oil radiator is provided.

Wi-Fi has been tested and is suitable for streaming one HD video.

Bedding and pillows are not provided. Please bring your own sleeping bag or bedding and pillow. Loo roll, soap and a hand towel are provided.

There is an outside terrace behind the Bothy for your own use, with a table and chairs. A simple outdoor fire area is available for small fires.

The Grampus, the local pub, serves food.

It is very dark at night, so torches are needed. You may hear owls hooting, and there is plenty of wildlife around.

Guest access
Guest access is from the South West Coast Path onto an unmade private road, then to the parking area at the top of the drive. From there, guests walk approximately 130 metres down a steep, uneven track to the Bothy.

The outside loo is reached by walking past the front of the house.

The road is unmade, and the paths, steps and ground surfaces are uneven. There are steps down to the Bothy from the parking area and terrace.

The Bothy is not suitable for guests with mobility issues, or for anyone using crutches, a walking aid, or who may struggle with uneven ground, steps or a steep track.

Care is needed when moving around outside, especially after dark. Please bring and use a torch.

Other things to note
This is a back-to-basics camping experience. The Bothy has one window, which provides ventilation.

The Bothy is best suited to one guest, but two guests can be accommodated at a squeeze by arrangement. There is one single-width bed, with a smaller seating area that can be used as an additional sleeping space. If two people are staying, the booking must be made for 2 guests, and guests should check the photos and dimensions carefully before booking.

Bedding is not provided, so guests must bring their own sleeping bag or bedding.

If you are driving, free on-site parking is available in the designated parking area at the top of the drive only. The Bothy is approximately 100–130 metres from the parking area, down a steep hill.

Please do not drive down to the Bothy. The steep incline causes severe deterioration to the road, so all vehicles must remain in the parking area at the top.
