Welcome to 'Lapland Lights' - our cosy cottage 10km north of the Arctic Circle and just 1.5 hours' easy drive from Rovaniemi. Stunningly located on the shore of lake Kuittasjärvi, Lapland Lights is a peaceful base for outdoor activities including Santa visits; husky, reindeer and snowmobile tours; skiing; ice fishing and more. In winter our quiet location is ideal for spotting the Northern Lights! Enjoy a hot tub with a lake view or a traditional wood-fired sauna with views over the river.
The space
The house has three bedrooms - two upstairs and one downstairs. Bedroom 1 has a lake view. It sleeps 2 in a comfy double bed and includes a TV/DVD player. Bedroom 2 is very large with a view of the river. It features a large double bed and two daybeds and sleeps up to 5 people. Bedroom 3 (downstairs) also has a lake view and features a daybed - which can be used as a single or double - a TV/DVD player and a foldaway writing desk. The house also has a bathroom (accessed via bedroom 3) and toilet (both downstairs) and an open-plan kitchen and living area. There is a sofa bed in the living area, which sleeps 2 people meaning the house can accommodate up to 11 people. Outside there is a large, roofed decking area with views of the lake, which features a wood-fired hot tub (use subject to weather conditions and additional fee). In the outbuilding is a tradition wood-fired sauna with views of the river and a small games room with some basic exercise equipment.
Guest access
The entire house is accessible to guests, as well as the sauna and games room in the outbuilding. There is an addtional charge of £100 for the use of the hot tub, and it can only be used if the temperature is above -15°c.

We take great pleasure in helping guests to get the most out of the area and have a truly memorable trip. We're happy to offer recommendations for activities and help arrange things for you.
During winter, we can provide sledges for children to play on. The snow-plough normally makes a little hill right outside the house that is perfect for small children and it's easy to keep an eye on them from the living-room window. We can also provide basic ice fishing equipment and two pairs of (adult) snow shoes.
If you are visiting around Christmas time (or just want to feel Christmassy!) we can provide a Chirstmas tree base (for a real tree), decorations and lights. We also have a small artificial tree.

The house is set in a fantastic location whatever time of year you visit. In the winter you can walk out onto the frozen lake to watch the Northern Lights, try ice fishing, go skiing (slope, off-piste or cross-country) or just enjoy the unspoiled natural beauty of the Arctic environment. In summer you can experience the midnight sun, swim in the cool waters, and take advantage of the Swedish 'freedom to roam' by exploring the local mountains and forests.
