We offer a new Villa overlooking the new pool and beach with 5 units to rent in addition to 4 identical rooms on the beach. It exudes a fusion of Mediterranean and Southeast Asian architecture with gentle Filipino touches.
The space
Casa Juan del Barrio is located at the Maite Marine sanctuary. You can swim during high tide, during low tide the sea is too shallow. If you venture a bit farther into the sea, snorkeling is spectacular. You will need to pay a small fee to the cooperative managing the sanctuary when you snorkel.
The Villa has two rooms on the ground floor with direct access to the infinity pool and 3 units on the upper floor - a room, a studio, and a two-bedroom apartment. There are also 2 cottages on the beach with two rooms each.
Every room can be rented separately but guests have the option to rent the two cottages and / or the entire villa, or any combination of rooms. For various options - just search “Casa Juan del Barrio” in the Airbnb search box.
All rooms are spacious with private terrace, en-suite toilet and bathroom and equipped with air-conditioning, ceiling fan, comfortable beds, fridge, TV, and reliable internet (Starlink) using mesh-wifi. The studio and the apartment have their own kitchen. All other rooms can make use of the common kitchen space for cooking. Since Casa Juan del Barrio is located within the prime tourist area, there are restaurants and bars nearby at walking distance.
Our Cottage Rooms: (Cottages)
Each room is designed for comfort and easy access to the white sandy beach and inviting blue sea and the relaxing swimming pool. The guesthouse has 4 identical rooms in 2 beach cottages equipped with comfortable furniture, each having an area of 31 square meters, including a private terrace of 8 square meters. Each room has en-suite toilet and bathroom with hot/cold shower. It also has air-conditioning and a ceiling fan.
Two rooms have a comfortable king-size double bed (75 by 72 inch / 191 by 182 cm), the two other rooms have each two comfortable twin beds (75 by 36 inch / 191 by 91 cm). The twin beds can be arranged as one double bed if requested. Each room is good for two persons, but additional guests (maximum 1 person) can be accommodated if requested upon booking. The additional guest needs a floor mattress at 20 USD/person/night to be paid on site.
A fridge is also available in each room in case you feel like munching or cooling off with cold drinks after a great adventure. Of course, what can be more fun also is viewing your videos and pictures of the day on a big screen of the smart TV. Just click on your mobile phone wireless display and have fun.
An outside shower also adds up to your island experience.
We recently upgraded the internet by connecting to Starlink with a WIFI mesh serving all rooms. The photovoltaic system with batteries reduces power outages to a minimum, we also installed a pressure tank and pump to improve the shower experience.
Common Space:
We just constructed a new swimming pool of 10 x 4 m for the use of all the guests. Our guesthouse features a picnic table on the beach, great to hang out and for eating/drinking. We encourage our guests to share space and gain new friends. There is also a common kitchen and a grilling area for guests who prefer to do their own cooking. For our guest convenience, we have menu cards in each room and guests can order food/drinks from our partner Luca-Loco restaurant, which is situated across the street. Many other restaurants also provide food delivery. Please ask our staff for assistance.

If your desired period of stay is not any longer available, you can check-out the availability of the other rooms (the four cottage rooms are virtually identical) and there are an additional 5 brand new units. Holidays can be more fun when shared with family members or friends, we recommend renting the entire place (all 9 units together) which could accommodate 20 people, for more comfort and privacy. If you rent a number of rooms at the same time, we offer a discount. We also offer 15% discount if you stay a week or 35% for staying a month or more.

Guest access
Guest have full access to the compound open spaces, Gazebo and sandy beach. Guest can also use the common kitchen in the staff house.
Other things to note
Our staff ensure that the rooms are clean upon check in and will also take care of cleaning after check out. We don’t charge extra cleaning fees. We therefore expect guests to tidy up their rooms, but they can request cleaning up every few days.
Also note that there is a DIVING / SNORKLING BAN in San Juan from the 2nd to 4th day after each full moon. The 2025 ban is effective during May-28 until May-30; Jun-26 until Jun-28; Jul-26 until Jul-28; Aug-24 until Aug-26; Sep-23 until Sep-25; Oct-22 until Oct-24; Nov-21 until Nov-23; Dec-21 until Dec-23.
