Our family cabin is located in the heart of lower Moonridge, just a short drive to the lake, village shopping, zoo, and many more attractions. Nestled in a quiet neighborhood surrounded by trees, the back of our property borders San Bernardino National Forest hiking and biking trails. This is a perfect getaway with the ambiance of a mountain cabin in the woods, pet friendly, with modern features like WiFi, TV and access to multiple streaming services, and of course, a wood burning fireplace.

The space
Welcome to Hibernation Station!

Our cabin is a cozy mountain getaway located on the edge of San Bernardino National Forest in a tucked away corner of Lower Moonridge. Accommodations include one full bedroom downstairs with a queen bed, a full bathroom, and an open loft upstairs with two queen beds. The kitchen is fully stocked with appliances including a 5 burner gas stove, refrigerator, keurig coffee maker, pots, pans, and all the dishes for your stay. No need to bring bedding or towels, we also provide bed / bath linens and limited toiletries like shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and a hair dryer. There is also a nice sized deck with chairs, propane grill, and a propane fire table, and an unobstructed forest view to enjoy on starry, moonlit mountain nights.

The approach to the driveway of our cabin is steep!! During or after it snows, you may have to park at the bottom of the hill at our neighbors property and walk about 50 feet up the hill to get to our driveway. Please consider this when booking your reservation. Please inquire if you have any questions!

We are pet friendly and our fur kids always join us in our journeys, we hope yours will too! please note however, the property does not have a fenced in yard.

We are always trying to improve our guests experience and we are confident that you will enjoy your stay!

Guest access
Our guests at Hibernation Station have full access to the entire property and parking on the driveway for 2 vehicles only. Street parking is prohibited by the city and vehicles may be ticketed or towed, especially during winter season.

For winter guests please note that the road leading to the property is quite steep. During snow storms or afterwards road may not be passable to driveway. We do have available parking two homes down on same side of street for 1 vehicle at the bottom of the hill. (about 50 feet from driveway)

Detailed check-in instructions will be sent to you following your reservation confirmation. The City of Big Bear Lake has adopted a new city ordinance that requires all short term rentals to conduct an in-person check in. Our check-in agent will meet you at the property in order to satisfy this requirement.

Other things to note
The person making reservation must be present for entire length of stay and must be an adult 21 years or older. No exceptions.

Check in is after 3:00pm. Check out is 11:00am. Early check-in is available for an additional fee of $25 when available. Check with host for availability

Unfortunately, our cleaning fee does not cover dish washing or trash removal. The City of Big Bear Lake does not provide trash service to rental properties, however, there is a free trash drop off site close to the cabin at 41970 Garstin Drive. Have your rental agreement available to show the attendant at the facility. If you prefer not to dispose of your own trash, we're happy to do it for a one time $25 fee.

We try our best to keep our cabin clean and fresh for our guests. We have a great cleaning crew but as much our pets enjoy the outdoors, forest, and all the elements contained there, we do not allow them to be on the couches or beds. We kindly ask that you do the same. Please remember that there are many wild animals in Big Bear, please be mindful of this for the safety of your fur kids and do not leave them unattended. Pet accidents happen, if there is a potty accident, please clean it up with cleaning solution provided. Please do not bath your pet in our bathroom shower/tub! There is an extra charge for this, or any pet accidents not cleaned up.

Your privacy is important to us! There is a security camera which monitors the outside front entrance area of the property. It is not able to be moved remotely. There are no cameras or monitoring devices inside the cabin, it is 100% private.

We have set up our place for the best experience, but occasionally things do go wrong. Please reach out and let us know as soon as possible if something is not working, you need help operating an appliance, or any damage occurs. We would always rather hear about it immediately in order for a chance to remedy the situation rather than hear about it in the review.

Neighborhood highlights

The neighborhood is all residential with a few other vacation rentals. It is located in the Moonridge neighborhood of Big Bear Lake where the many tall pine trees make if feel more secluded than it actually is. The San Bernardino National Forest is directly behind our cabin allowing quick and easy access to Skyline, Fern, and Bristlecone hiking and mountain biking trails. For those less adventurous and looking for more of a relaxing stay, the calming sounds and sights of nature will surround you on the back deck. The yard surrounding our cabin is not fenced in.

We ask that you respect our neighbors by keeping noise to a minimum and staying within the property boundaries. Because our cabin backs up to national forest, you are welcome and encouraged to take full advantage of all it has to offer, but we ask that you be mindful of and respect the neighbors private property.
