Welcome to Ham’s Haus Lutsen, the first container cabin on Minnesota’s North Shore.

A true North Shore experience. Nestled in the pines and maples with panoramic forest and Lake Superior views. Featuring art curated from MN-based artists and locally sourced goods for you to enjoy.

Central location perfect for adventuring. Less than 2 miles from Hwy 61 and 8 minutes to Lutsen Mountains for skiing and hiking. Staying in? You may not want to ever leave.

The space
Welcome to our dream home - a unique, centrally located, pet-friendly space that we are thrilled to offer for others to experience.

Creating a home out of shipping containers is a unique and more sustainable method of building. We took inspiration from industrial Duluth and the train tracks of the North Shore. Raw steel, natural elements, and modern design practices paired with warm touches to make you feel right at home.

While we poured our hearts into this home, the real focus is on nature. Nestled on two acres of raw land, atop a bluff abutting Jonvick Creek. Hear the water rushing by during the spring months. Walk the miles of neighborhood gravel roads, wooded and secluded with minimal car traffic. Take in the Lake Superior views from the living room, kitchen, and porch. Enjoy a morning coffee or tea and keep a look out for deer, eagles, and bear cubs.

You might just forget you’re in a home built entirely out of shipping containers…

Lounge in the living room and take in views from the floor-to-ceiling windows, throw on a record, or watch a movie on the 50” smart picture-frame TV.

Open floor plan leads into the fully equipped kitchen for all the home-chefs, with new Smeg appliances throughout. Make memories over dinner or playing vintage board games at the island dining table that comfortably seats 4.

Time to rest? Choose either of two bedrooms both with access to the fenced-in outdoor area. The first bedroom features a king-sized bed and built-in office nook, and the second features a full-sized mattress bunk bed.

Take your time in the bathroom oasis featuring a walk-in rainfall shower with skylight for shower star-gazing. Exclusively featuring a custom wall mural by Minnesota’s own Karlie Thomas (StudioKarlor).

Choose to chill on the patio’s repurposed ski-lift chair or rockers by Duluth’s own Loll Design, featuring motorized screens for the option to convert the full patio to a screened-in porch. Get lost in the stars while enjoying the outdoor chiminea fire-pit that overlooks the creek and Lake Superior beyond, with wood and outdoor blankets provided.

While we are happy to accept bookings for up to six people, the space may be most comfortable with four adults or less. However, this is completely up to your preference as we’ve had many full-capacity groups who have loved the space.

Hi! We’re Claire & Jenner. Like most things in life, we do them together, so why not Airbnb too!? I (Claire) am a MN native and Jen is from Madison, WI. We met in grad school and have enjoyed a number of adventures together since then - which are even better when bringing our two pups along. We absolutely love to travel and are passionate about hosting as well. After a very long, and at times hard, 1.5 years of planning and building, we’re ecstatic to finally be launching our very first Airbnb together, Ham’s Haus Lutsen, which is located in what has long been our favorite place on earth.
