The space
Recent updates to the Casa at Halcyon Hills put a mid-century modern spin on this former farmhouse, making it the perfect place to cozy up, reconnect, or explore and play in the North Carolina foothills.
The house has been completely refreshed with refinished flooring, new paint and lighting throughout, and modern touches that make your stay safe and comfortable.
Inside, you’ll find everything you need for a relaxing stay;
- fresh bedding and towels throughout;
- sustainable personal care products and cleaners;
- a stocked kitchen with everything you need to make meals during your stay; and
- extras like smart TVs, USB charging outlets, and books and board games to make your stay fun and relaxing.
Free WiFi throughout the house for working or streaming. Note: While our WiFi connection is good, it may not be sufficient for more than 2-3 work/school videoconferences simultaneously.
The Casa at Halcyon Hills is a two-story, loft-style home. The 26' tall great room boasts a beautiful stacked-stone floor-to-ceiling fireplace with salvaged wood mantle and large 55" Roku smart tv. The generously sized couch is perfect for cozying up by the fire, afternoon naps, or movies with the entire family (easily seats 6+), and a custom live-edge coffee table. An open kitchen and dining layout and wrap-around porch make it easy to dine and entertain inside or out. The pantry comes stocked with basic cleaning supplies and a washer and dryer is available for use during your stay (Eco-Friendly Dropps detergent provided). The Master Suite is a stunning retreat with double doors onto the porch, a large walk-in shower, multiple closets, 55" 4k Roku smart tv, custom quartz vanity, and jacuzzi tub with picture window, perfect for enjoying the foliage year-round.
Upstairs, the loft includes a lounge area with pull-out couch, mini library stocked with books for all ages, and games. Farther in, you’ll find two comfortable queen-size memory-foam beds, and a second full bath with a skylight and walk-in shower. Note: the loft area is not fully enclosed, but the beds are both tucked away from the landing for privacy.
Fully covered porch on one side with outdoor seating, wrapping around to large open porch on the front custom built 10' outdoor dining table. Just a few steps away, a winding path takes you to an 8 person hot tub, nestled amongst mature Japanese Maples. Visitors can also warm up on cool nights by our outdoor fire pit under the stars or take a stroll through our 8+ acre pasture or along the creek at the entrance to the property.

Guest access
Lockbox entry on main level. Guests have access to the entire main house as well as the 8+ acre pasture. Please refrain from accessing the Bunkhouse (it’s currently storage only). The Barn may be accessed, but please use caution as it’s not currently in use.
Keep in mind that there may be guests in our Tiny Home (The Grackle) during your stay. Any amenities at the main house are reserved for Casa guests only. If needed for space or weather reasons, we have provided overflow parking next to the pasture gate just off the circular driveway, but all efforts have been made to ensure that guests at both locations have sufficient space and privacy to enjoy their stays.
A few additional notes on accessibility. The Casa at Halcyon Hill has steps leading up to both the front door and the covered side porch. Guests must be comfortable with walking up and down stairs to access the house. The main driveway is paved and leads to a circular driveway at the front of the house, along with a new cement pathway to the hot tub, but other areas are natural and may be rocky or wooded.
WARNING - Please use caution when walking around the property as animals, bugs, and brush may present hazards. Additionally, please use caution when near or in the Barn area. There is a small ladder leading up to a loft area. Visitors are responsible for understanding the safety risks posed by the use of this ladder, and will indemnify and hold harmless Halcyon Hills and its owners/operators for any injuries received as a result of use of the ladder and/or attempts to access/use the loft in the Barn.
Other things to note
The Casa at Halcyon Hills is dog-friendly! We allow 1-2 house-trained, well-behaved pups with advance notice and prior approval. There is an additional $75 flat pet fee (for cleaning) per stay.
While inclimate weather isn’t common in Valdese, please note that the roads in our neighborhood and the driveway are a bit steep - if roads are icy or snowy please use caution and drive slowly when traveling to and from The Casa.
Wherever possible, we strive to be sustainable at Halcyon Hills. Many of our items are vintage, salvaged, or repurposed. We also provide some basic sustainable cleaning and personal use products for your stay. We do have curbside recycling available, so please try to recycle any appropriate materials during your stay to help us limit unnecessary waste. Additional details on recycling are provided in our Guest Handbook.
This property is shared with a second listing (a Tiny Home) which is set out in the pasture. While the main driveway provides shared access to both listings, parking and all amenities are distinct and not shared with the second listing.
