You’ll never know you’re in a basement in this spacious apartment. With 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, a kitchenette, and an office space, it can host retreat seekers and business travelers, midshipmen and Johnnies. The quiet neighborhood is a great place to relax after a day out downtown (a 10-minute drive away). No steps or scents anywhere - ask us if you have other accessibility needs! We live upstairs with our dogs, but your space is entirely separate and has its own private entrance.

The space
We chose the name Grey Havens from The Lord of the Rings. It reflects our goal of providing a space where anyone can find a restorative retreat from the world. To that end, the space has been newly renovated to be as restful as possible, with soothing neutral colors and a lack of visual busy-ness. Natural light streams through the windows. You can enjoy your favorite show on the living room TV, discover a new book in the study, or spend your whole stay sleeping in the bedrooms. Even the hallway features a thoughtful collection of local artwork. The kitchenette is equipped for simple cooking with a hot plate, toaster oven, and microwave. The huge driveway provides ample space for parking. Lynn's husband, Gregg, has worked in property management and home repair, so you can rest assured that everything is in top notch condition - not a bad bargain given our low cleaning fees!

Guest access
You have access to the entire basement apartment. There is no guest access to our private home (upstairs, in the detached garage, or on the deck).

Other things to note
Our goal is to provide a welcoming space for all needs and abilities. We stock fragrance free toiletries for those with allergies and sensitivities. We are still taking COVID precautions for guests with health risks by blocking off 24 hours between stays and using virus-killing cleaning products. The kitchen offers a roll-under counter, several doors have offset hinges, and the entire space is step-free. We hope to one day renovate the bathroom for better wheelchair access, but for now we have a detachable shower head. We are also taking steps to become more eco-friendly. Our furniture is vintage rather than new, we are on the lookout for biodegradable and recycled products, and we just upgraded our HVAC to a higher efficiency system.
