The space
Originally built in the 1860s, Gatekeepers Lodge is a heritage listed icon in the beautiful Lenah Valley. The lodge has been lovingly restored and styled to create a luxurious and spacious interior brimming with character. Boasting all the conveniences you could want and nothing you dont.

Our 3 bedrooms are adorned with lavish buttery soft French linens - a dream to sleep in all year round. The Master is a spacious queen room with large antique windows. A further queen room and king single room are found perched beautifully under our 19th century dorma windows. Please advise us your bedding requirements upon booking so we can cater to your needs.

If you love to cook, or simply enjoy swooning over your other half while they whip up your next meal, we have a fully equipped country kitchen with everything you need to make the most of Tasmania’s incredible produce. Explore our library full of cookbooks to get you inspired. We stock all the pantry staples, a variety of teas, sugar, salt, pepper, olive oil plus some treats. Your morning coffee is sorted in all the ways your heart could desire, with locally roasted coffee beans, an espresso maker and grinder on hand.

There are numerous spaces to put your feet up and read or simply watch the world go by. Along with a space for those who need to keep the world turning, thats if you can get any work done with hobart at your disposal.

The gardens at the lodge are something truly special, sprawling and spacious. Architecturally designed by the incredibly talented Tim Pilgrim (TP Gardens) our garden offers something unique to Hobart, with multiple spaces to enjoy, including a fire pit area, secret garden and naturalistic planting.

The lodge will keep you warm with a cosy wood fireplace and central hydronic heating (environmentally friendly and efficient). Firewood is provided, and in the cooler months feel free to contact your hosts to light the fire for your arrival.

Gatekeepers lodge is your place to drop your luggage, lock the gate and snuggle up by the fire. Unwind and enjoy all that hobart has to offer.

Guest access
A booking for two people is typically viewed as a couple booking a single room. For 2 people requiring 2 rooms, a one off fee of $75 is payable.

Please let us know your bedroom requirements upon booking so we can ensure the Lodge is setup to accomodate you and make your stay as comfortable as possible. Bedrooms that have not been booked may be locked if not communicated clearly and extra guests over the approved number may be charged a fee.

Access into the lodge is simple, we have a digital lock on the front door and will automatically provide you with a code before your arrival.

Park your car in our driveway, it comfortably fits one vehicle and street parking is also free!

Other things to note
We provide a seasonal assortment of delicious Tassie breakfast provisions for you and your fellow travellers. Sourdough, farm fresh eggs, local butter, fruit and jams are an example.

We also offer personalised day drive itineraries and hampers brimming with delicious home made and locally sourced treats. Anniversary? proposing? let us know if its a special occasion and we can curate something special for your stay.

We have beautiful botanicals and seasonal floral arrangements throughout the property. If your stay is a little longer, feel free to change the water in the living arrangements to keep them looking fantastic, or you can let us know if you would like a mid-stay turnover for fresh towels/linens.

Access to the bedrooms and bathroom is via an antique stair case so may not suit those with mobility issues.
