Other things to note
Welcome!

We are located along Garden Bay Lake, which doesn't appear on maps because it is a community drinking water lake. It is a large lake with two islands.

We are on a water well with a septic system so 6 or less people is our maximum. Only toilet paper down the toilet. No grease down the kitchen drain. Do not overuse laundry soap.

We pack out garbage as there is no pick up. Outdoor garbage attracts wildlife. We take it with us. There is a dump station on the way home and for $5 you can dispose of garbage there if needed. There is a local recycling depot.

Summer: Fire Ban usually in effect: no indoor or outdoor fires. No activity with sparks ( firecrackers ) in the dry season (usually mid June to mid September). No smoking off the deck.

Winter: Read our woodstove guide as we have a 22 foot chimney that will fill with smoke if you don’t establish a draft first. It will heat the house beautifully and there are thermostats if you need.

Rare, but during storms there can be power outages. We have a woodstove and flashlights and can be quite comfortable, but you should charge your phones just in case. Only once we lost cell service when a tower was knocked down. Our wifi is excellent.

Beautiful Pender Harbour area with freshwater lakes. Birds and wildlife surround this earthy dwelling. Garden Bay Lake is a community drinking water lake (no power boats). There are bears and coyotes but if you don't leave food out they won't come to visit. There is nearby shopping for groceries, gifts, restaurants. A nice balance of being in a natural setting with amenities nearby.
