The space
[The Space]

Concept: A Place to Deepen Bonds Welcome to your home in Hakodate. Our concept is simple: "A space where travel memories are made." We believe accommodation should be more than just a place to sleep. It should be a place where you return after a day of sightseeing to relax, laugh, and spend quality time with your loved ones. Whether you are cooking fresh Hokkaido seafood in the kitchen, watching a movie on the projector, or playing games with your children, this house is designed to bring people together.

Layout: Connected & Spacious This is a renovated single-story house (Kominka). The unique feature of our layout is that all three bedrooms connect directly to the central living room. Unlike multi-story houses where families get separated, here you can always feel the presence of your loved ones, no matter which room you are in. The single-story design (no stairs) ensures safety for toddlers and comfort for grandparents.

Room Details

The Living & Dining Area: The heart of the house. It features a dining table for 6 and a comfortable sofa. Gather here to plan your next day's trip or enjoy a dinner party together.

Kitchen (Chef’s Delight): We know that for many guests, enjoying local food is the highlight of the trip. The house has a fully equipped System Kitchen with an IH cooktop, refrigerator, microwave, and rice cooker. You are welcome to buy Hakodate's famous fresh seafood or Wagyu beef at the Morning Market or city supermarkets and enjoy a private feast at home!

Japanese Room (6-Tatami) - The Relaxation Zone: This room features a high-quality Massage Chair. Please use it to soothe your tired body after a long day of walking. You can sleep here on traditional Futons.

Japanese Room (8-Tatami): A spacious traditional room perfect for sleeping on Futons. The smell of Tatami mats offers a truly authentic Japanese experience.

Western Room - Entertainment Hub: Equipped with a sofa, desk, Projector, and Video Game Console. It’s the perfect hideaway for kids to play games or for the family to enjoy a movie night. (Air conditioner included).

[Guest Access]

Free Parking: You can park immediately next to the house entrance. Loading and unloading luggage is very easy.

Check-in: Self-check-in system for your convenience.

[Location & Neighborhood] The house is located in a quiet residential neighborhood at the western end of Hakodate.

By Car: 5 minutes to Mt. Hakodate Ropeway, Motomachi churches, and the Bay Area (Red Brick Warehouses).

By Public Transport: 5-minute walk to the nearest Tram station (Terminus) and convenience store.

Note: The neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful. While it is not a party district, it is the perfect base for those who want to rest well at night.

Terrain: There is a gentle slope from the tram station to the house. If you have heavy luggage, a car or taxi is recommended.

[For Families with Children] We welcome families! We have prepared toys and games so your little ones won't get bored. The flat floor plan means you don't have to worry about them falling down stairs.

We hope you have a wonderful stay and create lasting memories in our home.

Guest access
Guest access: You have full access to the entire house. There are no restricted areas, so please make yourself at home and enjoy the space freely. Free parking is available right next to the entrance for your convenience.

Other things to note
Other things to note

Capacity: While the house accommodates up to 6 guests, it might feel a bit tight for 6 adults. We believe it is most comfortable for a group of 4 adults and 2 children.

Location: The house is located at the western end of Hakodate, not in the city center. It is near the tram terminus. Therefore, it may not be suitable if you plan to pop back home for a quick rest in the middle of sightseeing.

Access: It is a 5-minute walk (350m) from the nearest tram stop, "Hakodate-Dokkumae" (Terminus). Please note that there is an uphill slope from the tram stop to the house (please refer to the listing photos).

Tram ride to "Hakodate Station": 13 mins.

Tram ride to "Goryokaku Park": 30 mins.

Taxi from Hakodate Station: Approx. 1,500 JPY.

Dining: As this is an old residential neighborhood, there are very few restaurants open late at night nearby. We recommend dining around Hakodate Station or the Kanemori Red Brick Warehouses before returning home.

Scent: There are two Tatami rooms, so the house has the unique scent of "Igusa" (natural rush grass).

Lighting: The living room windows are not very large, so the room may feel a bit dim on cloudy or rainy days.

Property Type: This is a renovated traditional house, not a modern hotel. We do not recommend this listing if you are looking for the pristine facilities or convenient location of a city hotel.

Where you’ll be

Hakodate, Hokkaido, Japan

There is a Michelin Bib Gourmand-selected soba restaurant diagonally across the street. You can taste Japanese top-level soba from 900 yen (excluding tax). Open only during lunch (Tuesday / Wednesday Closed). 30 meals a day, so it is better to make a reservation. Worth eating!

There is two doors away a long-established public bath that has been in business for over 100 years.(Now out of business.) Western style public bath is rare in Japan, so it is certified as a landscape-designated building. It was also used for filming movies. Because it is attracted to the retro appearance of light pink color, many people visit to take pictures of building.
