Enjoy a private forest camping hut. Rustic yet designed with comfort in mind. Nestled among the Redwoods a few miles from the Pacific Ocean.

This is a place for you to disconnect and reconnect with the surroundings. To unplug and decompress from busy life.

5 miles from our town of Elk and a nice coastal drive to historic Mendocino.

*Please make sure you do some research on local restaurant hours before you get here as there is limited cell service in the area.

**Important Consideration** before making a reservation.

*If you are looking for a hotel luxury amenities experience, this is not the right fit for you. The hut is a rustic experience, think camping but with a heat, bed and a hot bath.

*The Redwood Forest Camping Hut is accessed via a forest path from the parking area.

*The space has multiple steps and stairs which may be a problem for some individuals.

*There is NO kitchen for cooking. We supply plates and utensils so you can bring your take-out or snacks and enjoy your meal either indoors or outdoors in solitude. There is a sink so your plates and utensils may be cleaned. There is a pour over coffee and a teapot so you can make hot beverages. We encourage you to enjoy the local restaurants and recognize the hut experience is not a cooking experience due to the many forest animals and insects that it tends to attract.

*Modern compost toilet. Not a flushing toilet :) Please see picture for reference.

We suggest guests arrive before sunset as the forest gets very dark at night. Please bring a torchlight if you will be arriving late or after dark.

*There is no wifi or cell services.
Incase of an emergency, we have a phone for you to use. :)

*NO hairdryer or hair iron, please. The hut can only support minimal electrical usage. Only charge small devices, anything more will cause the power to turn off.

The space is equipped with:
- Queen bed
- Private Outdoor hot shower and bath
- Outdoor sink
- Small gas stove burner for Tea & Coffee.
- Small Cafe table
- Books/games/music player
- Gas heating
- Modern composting toilet (Please see picture for reference)

The hut is inside the forest and this means easy access for critters. To keep them outside, please carry your rubbish away and make sure any food is stored away adequately. It is not a good idea to leave unwashed dishes for these same reasons. There are insects too ... :)

There is no wifi connection and cell service is very spotty. If you are a person that needs to be connected, this is not the place for you. Please look at the map before making your final decision. The distance from town: Mendocino - 25 min (14.6 miles) & Elk Town - 11 min (5.4 miles)


There is a phone to use for any type of emergency if needed.

Neighborhood highlights

The Redwood Forest Camping Hut is set in the woods with no visible neighbours.

Our neighbors are all generally very quiet.

Our little town of Elk is fairly small, but beautiful. A great place for a hike down to the beach or along the coastline. For any provisions we have a great market (The Elk Store - closes 6:00pm) with sandwiches, cheeses, a great selection of wine and beer, and all other main essentials. You can grab breakfast/lunch at Queens Roadhouse Cafe (Thursday thru Monday 8am to 3pm).

There are also many other restaurants/cafes along Hwy 1 within a few miles.
