Beautiful area

Guests love this home’s scenic location.
Fjell Hytte: a little piece of Norway in Somerset. Beautifully crafted, heated by woodburner and offering enchanting views, this cosy shepherd's hut is away from everyone in its very own secluded wild paddock, only a mile from the village pub, shop and post office. Entertainment is by way of board games, books, and a portable DVD player.
The hut has an en suite with hot water, shower, toilet, and basin.
Gaze at the stars and enjoy the fire pit while snuggling up together. A real escape.

The space
This is a cosy little retreat, perfect to sit outside and bbq in the warmer months, or tuck yourself away on those colder nights with the log burner going and a glass of wine in hand. The bed is super cosy, a traditional Swedish Box Bed with a double mattress - although we don't recommend to those taller than 6'2 as it is a little snug!

Please note, this is a remote and rural setting as part of our smallholding, we are 15 mins away from the nearest towns of Yeovil and Crewkerne, and the nearest shop in the village is 1 mile away. The hut is set in its own field, a short walk from the parking area. This spot is ideal for those wishing to escape the rat race and noise of daily life.
We recommend wearing wellies or boots in wet weather to walk across the field.

Our location is an ideal base for exploring Dorest, Devon and Somerset, and in particular, The Jurrassic Coast, Lyme Regis, West Bay, Glastonbury and Frome.

Keep an eye on the calendar for our 1 night deals- these often change throughout the year and sometimes you can catch yourself a last minute getaway bargain!
We offer 1 night stays throughout the year during quieter months (January - May, and October - December).
June - September are the busier months, so these are min 2 nights.

Facilities include a shower, toilet, basin, ceramic hob, microwave, toaster, kettle, mini fridge DVD player and radio.
PLEASE NOTE THERE IS NO OVEN IN THE SHEPHERD'S HUT.
There is tea, coffee, herbal teas, hot chocolate, sugar, cooking oil, seasoning, brownies, and a mini jar of cows milk from a local farm.
Fresh towels, bedlinen, cushions, blankets and toilet paper are provided.
Logs for the wood burner, kindling and firelighters are provided inside the hut, with an opportunity to purchase more if required.
if you wish to use the outside firpit during your stay, you will need to either bring wood or you can purchase some from us in the guest recycling area, at £5 per bag. The wood burner logs are strictly not for use on the outside firepit.

There is no TV or WiFi in the hut, but there is a DVD and films and board games for entertainment. We find there is good 4G signal on most phone networks.

We do not allow pets, but you may want to see our other listing for our pet friendly log cabin! Just search for Tistockers Log Cabin.

Guest access
The hut is in its own 1 acre wild paddock field, leading to local footpaths. Park in the nearby secure courtyard, and use the little trolley to transport your provisions to the Hut on foot, approximately 150 yards away across two fields. This would not be suitable for wheelchair users or those with mobility needs.

Other things to note
It isn't possible to drive right up to the Hut. Parking is in a secure courtyard. There is a dedicated parking space named Hytte Parking. There is a trolley for luggage and provisions if required, and it's a downhill run on mown paths to the Hut.
please note there is no WiFi at the hut, but there is 4G signal on most networks.

Neighborhood highlights

On the outskirts of the village of Hardington Mandeville with no immediate neighbours. The village is very much a dairy farming community. We have one friendly pub and a village shop for basic supplies. There are lots of local walks to explore. There is a local map provided in the hut showing footpaths and local walks.
