NOW WITH BATHROOM! (Sink, toilet, shower, hot water)

RV, Van, car camp, tents (7 day stay limit on tents). Set up camp feet from the water at our private RV spot. Live the coast life on a canal; fishing steps from your back bumper!

Access to neighborhood fishing area on the Intracoastal also. Private neighborhood beach access. 2 Boat ramps.

Best campsite at any price! Pet Friendly, fully fenced!

11 1/2 foot max height (measured at edge of rig), 20-30-50 amp, water and septic.

The space
Bring your RV, tent, van, etc. Grill is there for you. Full bathroom with shower and hot water is new for 2026, so we can host most any camping style.

We have a screened porch and decking next to the trailer. The RV cover should work great to keep tents cool as well.

We also have a crab trap, minnow trap, and some other fishing gear available for you (Bring your own rods, reels, and line tackle.) The dock is good for fishing, but the neighborhood fishing area just a few lots down lets you access the intracoastal and deeper water.

Full hook-ups with a 20-30-50 amp RV pedestal, city water, and septic to dump.

Fenced in so bring the dogs. Instructions about how to keep them safe are in the rules.

We are 7 miles from the Houston Audubon High Island Sanctuaries. This is world-class birding in the spring, people from every continent can be seen there looking for songbirds who fly over the Gulf of Mexico from the Yucatan heading to breeding grounds as far as Canada and Alaska.

Other things to note
I can share recomendations for food, places to see, and especially birding spots.

Birding is how we found Canal City and our piece of the Texas Coast. Bolivar has some amazing birding from the High Island end to Fort Travis and the North Jetty. The shorebird sanctuary and horseshoe marsh are awesome. Throughout the year, you can see more birds here than most anywhere else in Texas.

I also can recommend a great kayak fishing guide; if you've never fished from a Kayak, Sergio will show you fishing like you never imagined. He has you on water larger boats can't even think of going to! You truly connect with the beauty of the bay on a kayak. He supplies everything you need other than a fishing license and water / drinks / snacks.

Neighborhood highlights

Canal City is one of the first neighborhoods developed on Bolivar. It was built in the late 50s and was beach cabins that were family treasures for generations. Sadly, Hurricane Ike washed almost all of that away. It took years for signs of life to begin returning slowly. People have redeveloped the neighborhood by allowing RV use, so we can enjoy this beutaiful place on the water but away from the noise of town, but without the risk of traditional homes that are subject to storm damage and the like. It is fairly private, since none of the streets go through to anything; they all end at the Intracoastal canal!

We have been RVers since 2012 and birders since probably 2017. In 2023 we were birding at High Island and found Canal City. We knew we wanted a spot there, with our RV on the water, fun fishing, a few miles from world-class birding, down the street from the beach. We love sharing our favorite place with you. I'm a Lutheran pastor. Jennifer is a software developer and does nature photography, particularly birds. We have two teen boys.
