Ashmead Meadow Yurt
Private, off grid, warm insulated spacious 18ft yurt, set in your own secluded rewilded acre, managed with care for diversity and wildlife, on the edge of a farming village with lovely woodland walks. Slow down and reconnect with nature.

Sleeps 4. King-sized bed (or breaks down into 2 single beds) , and up to two extra singles on request.

Easy access to Glastonbury, RSPB starling roosts, Avalon Marshes /The Sweet Track, Quantock Hills, The Newt, Cheddar Gorge.

The space
A spacious, beautiful large , locally made, Ash Yurt. Cosy and warm, with thick felted wool lining, insulated floor and 5kw hand crafted windy smithy wood burner.

King sized bed, or 2 single beds, duvet, pillows and sleeps an extra 2 guests on request. I provide bed linen, towels, gas, a large basket of logs, kindling, eco cleaning products, plenty of drinking and washing water. There are many thoughtful touches (maps/books/games etc) alongside all crockery, basic cooking equipment, outdoor firepit, cast iron dutch oven, pans, skillet etc if you prefer to cook out on a fire and there is a 2 ring hob.

There is solar lighting in the yurt and a beautiful dry composting toilet made using local timber.

Washing up area in the barn, with extra logs available to purchase.

This is a truly magical place to retreat into nature with a special energy. It has been created as a therapeutic healing space for both humans and nature.

Exclusive private use of the one acre site. Enclosed by mature hedging and trees it feels wild and natural yet is easy to access. The yurt sits in the centre of wild medicinal herb garden at the top of the gently sloping wildflower meadow, with small orchard. There is parking on site, a private outside firepit, seats, benches and picnic table. Clean compost toilet. The entire site is for your private use during your stay.

Other things to note
Please note there is no running water /shower on site

I provide bottled drinking water and washing up water.

Please only use the wood I have provided on site in the wood burner ~

Please no shoes or candles inside the yurt and no dogs on furniture/in bed

Do not use coal or your own wood in the wood burner.

No smoking inside any structure, only by the outdoor fire pit

Dogs on leads and cleared up after.

Children must be supervised at ALL TIMES.

Ensure gas is fully turned off on hob and do not leave the site leaving the woodstove lit.

The site is next to a working farm. Sometimes you may hear the two nearby properties.

A small country road runs alongside the land.

Nice walks locally, particularly at the National Trusts Turn Hill/Beer and Aller woods, include a visit to a Bere Cider 5 mins drive away.

Langport offers interesting shops, cafes, River Parrat boat/bike/stand up paddle board/kayak hire.

Nearby RSPB reserves Ham Wall and Westhay and Avalon Marsh Centre, famous for the winter starling murmerations and recreation of the pre historic Sweet Track.

Glastonbury has many tourist attractions including the Abbey, Tor, Chalice Well and White Temple Springs as well as alternative shops, pubs and cafes .

There are beautiful National Trust properties a short drive away, as well as Muchelney Abbey, The Newt, and Wells Catherdral.

Burrow Mump and Burrow Hill/Cider are interesting local places to visit and the drive across the levels into Muchelney in Winter often offers views of swans on the flooded levels.

The area is very rural, you need a vehicle.

Pitney has an organic farm shop with wonderful cafe, and a country pub, The Halfway House that serves good food.

The Rose & Crown in Huish Episcopi, holds popular live music and food truck events.
