About the property

The tiny house is located on the property of our family. There are three buildings on the property. Rick and Lacy live in the main house with our two kids. The second large building includes apartment for extended family and an attached woodworking shop. Tucked away in a private back corner of our property is the tiny house. The tiny corner is made by a fence between our property and our neighbor's, who are generally quite folk and the wall of the neighborhood fire station. We do not notice a lot of noise or disturbance from the fire station, but we might be used to it after living here for more than 15 years! There could be the occasional alarm sound of other activity heard from the fire station. Though it is generally pretty serene back there, we do want you to know about your neighbors! Our kids, who are unschoolers, and their friends play outside often, so you definitely may see kids in the main yard, but the tiny house area is private to you.

We love our neighborhood, MORA, and spend a lot of time here. Lacy works walking distance away and Rick works at home, so we are easily reachable, if needed. We are really happy to share with you about our city (We have lived here since 2001!) or to support any needs you have with your stay. We are also introverts who have a lot of cool projects all the time that keep us on our toes, so are happy to give you your space as well! In walking distance is the public library, local donut shop, local brewery, local pizza shop, Starbuck, ALDI grocery, Supercuts and a few more restaurants.

Values reflected in the tiny house

We are working on doing better with the ways we as humans are impacted Earth. We are particularly trying to reduce our use of plastics. For the tiny house, we are using as much as possible compostable Keurig pods, products that come in glass, cardboard or compostable material for dish soap, laundry, hand soap, body wash, shampoo and conditioner.

Equity is important to us. We especially extend a welcome to folks from historically marginalized communities.

We also value beauty, nature and being chill! We hope you see these things reflected in the Tiny.

Guest access
Guests will be provided a access code upon checking in that will allow them to unlock the main entrance as well as the bathroom.

Other things to note
Please note that we do not have any TVs in the tiny house.
