Guests keep coming back
Many guests return for repeat stays, praising the thoughtful design and Simon's friendly, hands-off hosting
Experience for yourself everything the Driftless has to offer during your stay in this stylish, timber-framed, eco-friendly guesthouse on our 8-acre rural retreat. Completed in 2021, you'll love this bright, clean, private, and peaceful space.
Fish nearby trout streams, go for a bike ride, explore great state and county parks, or shop and dine in Viroqua (7 miles away) and Westby (3 miles).
The space
Open layout with queen bed in sleeping alcove on the main level, and two twin beds in the open loft above. Full bathroom and functional kitchenette. Wood stove in the living room. Dining area. Private deck outside.
Guest access
This guest suite is above our garage, with the entrance around back accessible from a garden path. Guests have exclusive access to their own deck, fire pit, and a one-acre front prairie with a perimeter path. There is a privacy fence in between the main house on the property (where my family and I live) and the guesthouse's outdoor area and entrance. While you may see us coming and going out front, our private yard and family spaces are secluded behind our house and mostly out of view. See previous guests' comments below to hear how people experience privacy despite the proximity.
There is also a 1/3 mile path (called "the common loop") around a secluded 3-acre prairie that you are free to explore, and that is not visible from either residence. Maps are provided.
Other things to note
Our well-appointed guesthouse on a rural homestead is unique because you get the peace and quiet of the countryside, but not the feeling of being too remote or too far from other friendly humans (if needed!). Our guests share that they experience lots of privacy, yet also the peace of mind knowing someone is around should anything come up. We are happy to share tips on favorite hikes and to recommend places to shop and eat. But mostly we are pretty hands-off hosts.
